Negative Thought: Combine Score Against Winning Teams

We played 7 teams that finished 2013 with winning records. Our record against those 7 was 3-4. We beat all the 7 win teams and lost to every team that won more than 7 games.

Our combined score against teams with winning records (it was helped by UNC and Pitt winning their bowl games) is : 190 - 251

That can mean a lot of things:

Our record does not reflect how good/bad we are.
As injuries piled up throughout the season we did not have the depth to compensate for the loss.
We are not well coached.
And a ton of other things.

I am not saying I think it is any of the above but I have seen on this site that Goldens record against teams with 8 wins or more is 1-12. That is a scary stat and one that has to change in 2014.

Here's a stat I stole from another board:

The 4 teams we lost to in 2013 won more games than the 9 teams we beat. 43-10 vs 40-71.

VT, Duke, FSU, and Louisville beat us by an average score of 42-19

UpwardTrend!

It's a process....

It's O.K. because we were ranked 7th in the NCCA, and had the 2nd best ever kick return unit in the history of UM football.

I think we're trending upward, we get some new players in here all the difference we need

It's always good to be trending upward.

I am tired of people saying that we don't have depth... yes the **** we do... we have playmakers and better talent on this team than most teams do... we have more talent than Duke, Wake, VT, UNC... its amazing tobsee how many people constantly sit there and make escuses for the lack of coaching and game management. I like and respect AG the only thing I dont like about him is that he is too loyal. He is too loyal to his coaching staff he is too loyal to his seniors and he doesn't yank players for underachieving! We all know Dorito has to go along with Franklin. Coley is not a game day play caller... And SteMo should have got yanked and Williams should have gotten some real gametime PT this year... PD went down and Coley stepped up we have playmakers... Coley only runs so many plays and they are all vanilla... he doesnt switch it up... RB screens, crossing routes, over the middle with the TE's, delays, draw plays, Fisch was greatly missed... he is a QB coach as well as our OC... Morris improved under his tutelage... guys like Sandland would have been on ESPN week in and week out if they went elsewhere and im sure he feels like he is wasting his time here... Morris seems to only throw to certain people on this team... his #1 obviously was Hurns and Walford if he chose to throw to the TE. Williams seems to spread the ball around to everyone and thats whats needed when you have playmakers everywhere... it all comes down to coaching its that simple... I feel AG can lead this team but he just needs to run this ship like a Captain and a Boss and make the right changes...
