The primary difference between UM and our in state rivals is that we have a National Brand. Historically we've had more success in luring top talent from all over the country. Primary because we can offer several things they can't. Beautiful weather, world class city and one of the top 5 media markets in the country, etc.. Our fans need to get behind the team and stop crying over the guys who thought they were too good to join us. How can our fan base be so caught up in 1 local kid that they completely ignore the fact that Al & Co. pillaged the state of NJ for their 2 best prospects? Al is establishing pipelines in places our competition can't. You don't think Big10 schools are worried about that? Those schools know they cant compete with the allure and mystic of what the city of Miami has to offer. If some of you are soo impressed with the recruiting of Jimbo and Muschump go live a in trailer park with them and root for their teams.

NJ has always provided players for UM. If Rutgers could ever get 70% of the top kids to stay home they would be a top ten team year in and year out.

We've always gotten a guy here or there. I'm not going to pretend to be guru, but when was the last time we took several of their top ranked players in the same class?

We are also an urban city and not some bum**** town like most of the SEC.

NY/NJ kids don't like those places.

National brand or not, the fact still remains that UF and FSU are getting top 10 classes and 8+ wins year in and year out on top of having top draft picks while we are struggling to get elite recruits (not talking about MT6 or Collins) and 7 wins. I'm definitely behind the team but seeing the other in-state schools get these players that eventually become beasts while our players just show a bit of potential hurts.

In this thread people from New Jersey ignore all the recruiting UF and FSU do throughout the South.

While I agree we pull players from out of state, Florida (in particular) and FSU have had plenty of success doing the same over the last decade. There are plenty of top level recruits out there for all three schools.

Not saying that FSU and UF do not get out of state and national kids they do get a few of those kids. And they recruit the entire south My point is we have a built in advantage in the NE that they do not. Just as I'm sure that kids from small towns in the backwoods feel more comfortable with their trailer park brethren than they do in the big city.

@CanesFan93 would you agree that Muschamp and Jimbo are better coaches than Randy Shannon? Maybe they are better coaches than Golden.. it's about development. Stars only matter if you can help a guy reach his potential. Why are we soo convinced today that Thomas > Grace. Or that Hargraves III > Burns. None have taken a single college snap.

Think about how happy you were when got Robert Marve..QB of the future, high school stud, could beat out KW. He was a disaster.
Wilder Jr.: The highlight of his career beating up Northern Illinois.
Jeff Driskel: Supposed Stud, next tebow, protype QB. He's been trash.
Lydon Trail: what ever happened to him?
Alderius Johnson: ??
The list goes on.

10 wins seasons and mythical recruiting titles are nice but nothing compares to that crystal ball. Jimbo and Muschamp have yet to hoist one up.

The best Jersey kids go wherever they want. This year we got #1 and #2, you'll find OSU, Bama, and LSU in the top 10. No that Rutgers is in the Big 10, they will be tougher to recruit against.

I would love Jabrill peppers. Kid is a stud and has great size! Going to be very hard to get though

Mohammad Wilkerson is better than any DT we have had here since 2003. He's better than any DT thats come out of 305 or 954 in the NFL today (rated by PFF as the 2nd best 3-4 DE behind JJ Watt). He was a two star from Jersey. It's about scouting and development.

We use to pick up one or two quality Jersey recruist a year......Golden's a Jersey guy and nice to see he's started the tradition again. It's especially nice to see we got a Don Bosco Prep player........year in and year out a quality team........beat STAC this year and Manatee last year.....with the Penn State situation, perhaps Golden can start a bit of a pipeline.

BTW the Peppers kid mentioned above was a DBP player and then transferred. Kids listed at 6 foot 190 but honestly he looks about 5'10 175 .....looks more like a CB than a RB to me, but very talented.

Any coach is better than Shannon. It is about player development, you are correct, but has Golden & staff developed some yet? I wait for results from recruits also, I was just saying that you can see the results in UF and FSU more than in Miami.

How convenient of you to leave out 561 from your comment.

FYI.. There's a kid from St. Joe's Montvale, NJ who is a Beast. A Saftey named Kiy Henson that might be one of the top saftey in the Country.

We are VERY strong with him..

For the Record - NJ top 10 Talent is just as comparable to any in the nation..
