2013 Chaminade Madonna DE/OLB Joe Jones, hearing that Miami is talking to him and the interest is mutual. The person i spoke to says he is very high on Miami's boards right now. Doesn't hold an offer yet but could get one after the Miami Coaches Evaluate him.

Interesting move. I suppose that the coaching staff is hedging their bet on Thomas. Seems natural.
 
Jones has been in contact with the staff for a while, he isn't a new name... nothing to do with Thomas

He looks like he has the frame to be the kind of pass rushing d-end we really need. Thomas is a linebacker with the ability to rush the passer...but still a linebacker. I don't think every move we make should be interpreted as our replacement for Thomas.
 
People need to realize that Thomas is going to be primarily a LB in college with likely some role specializing in pass rush when called upon.

This looks more like a contingency plan to Tim Williams to me.

Get as many plan B's in place as possible. There's a very real possibility Thomas doesn't come here, and if that's the case, we need to have other quality options.
 
His frame is very similar to Tim Williams, meaning who knows if he'd be able to step in and contribute immediately.

For the life of me I can't understand why Alvonte Bell can't get a sniff from the staff.
 
Joe Jones is best friends with Big 6....can only help us land him. Also, I believe he is related to DP52.

RAW but that hasn't stopped this staff. They see talent when others are reading rivals.

Very slow off the ball and looks a little stiff to me for his size when changing direction or chasing.
