It was pretty cool to not have to stress over a game for once. Seems like the team was clicking on all cylinders. A better crowd showed up then what I figured would, but they were all gone by the end of the 2nd quarter. I swear in the second half there were about 42 people in the stands. Lets get started by talking individual performances.
Morris - Looked good in limited action. Looks like he just got his ankle rolled up. I would not be shocked if he didnt play vs. USF but I expect him to.
Duke - Man, Duke dont look the same. Even on the kickoff return he took back he just didnt seem as explosive. That kickoff was all vision. It also seems he is going down a little easier than before. Possibly something lingering from the UF game? Would like to see some more bounce in Duke next week moving forward in to ACC play.
Hurns - Is our leading receiver (pats self on back)
Coley - GOOD GAWD DA KID HAV WHEELS. Seriously, this dude is fast. You wonder why he is bobbling everything he touches though. It looks like he is thinking way too much out there. This dude is going to be a STUD.
Figatron - DAT BOY NASTY
Perryman - Hope you enjoyed your night off, kid.
Deon Bush - Whoa. Dude looked to be about 40% last night. It was almost funny the way the SSU players were getting the corner on Deon. If the kid isnt ready, get him out.
Now onto Group Performances
The OLINE - To be honest, quite frankly I am still unimpressed with the Oline. Not once should Morris have ever had to scramble to get away from trouble, and when he did, well, you all saw what happened. Duke getting hit at the LOS is another indication that this unit HAS to get better. Yes, we dominated them, but not like we should have on paper.
The QB's - Ryan was nearly perfect as was Gray Crow. Ryan was asked to do a little more and he delivered. He looks much improved from last year. Gray Crow had a PERFECT beauty of a throw in the red zone to sandland for a TD. He rolled out, stopped, stepped up, and delivered with pressure. Like it.
The RB's - Shout out to my dude DALLAS! 3 TDs on the night and he looked good. Edwards got to carry the load in the second half..... ok guys, dont hate on me for this one, but the way he runs reminds ME of a poor mans Adrian Peterson. That is not a diss. Clements looked decent as well, but it seems like at this point Crawford should be ahead of him and Edwards is emerging.
WR's - Didnt do much except get open.
TE's - We have 2 really good ones. Sandland is slow as **** but he was mushing fools around and it was fun to watch.
DLINE - Lots of pressure causing sacks, picks, and TFL.
LB's - Didnt have to do much
CB's - Didnt have to do much. Shout out to Larry Hope.
Safetys - Bush, SMH. These guys didnt have to do much either. It looks to me as if Jamal Carter, a guy i thought would get major burn especially with the injury to Bush, is not close to being ready yet. Looks like he could use a shirt which he is probably no longer eligible for.
Overall we dominated. Would have liked to see a goose egg but O WELL. LETS GO CANES.
Expect more of the same next week.
