"DANG OL MIAMI"
This is what at least one GT fan was saying about the game yesterday. For the 5th year in a row, we have again beaten the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets led by Paul Johnson and their optimist offense. If I'm a GT fan right now, im loading up the six shooter and putting it in my mouth. Luckily, Im not.
Dan E. Dangerously does such a great job of covering these games from start to finish, before and after, so I will not get in to as much detail as Dan but a few things stuck out to me yesterday. For one, If the Canes are going to ever go undefeated ever again, they are not going to be allowed to have close games that come down to the wire because i promise you guys, the zebras are not going to allow us to win any of them. I counted 5. FIVE. V. Five false starts on the FIRST DRIVE for GT that werent called. ****, the announcers didnt even say anything about it. I was beginning to think I was crazy, and then I started to think "do they have some sort of hesitation snap where noone moves when the ball is snapped except the linemen getting a head start??". That wasnt the case. In another instance the GT player was stopped short on a 4th down and got an AMAZING spot from the refs. In another instance it looked as if the Canes were good for a first and we got a TERRIBLE spot. Its hard out here guys, so we are going to have to beat the **** out of teams and leave it in our hands.
I wonder if Morris is still hurt? Yes, yes he is, according to the commentators for yesterdays game. They corroborated this over 15 times at least. The brown fellow wasnt that bad, matter fact, I kind of like him, but the short guy with the spikey hair and glasses was really getting on my nerves. I wanted to put my hands around his throat and SHOUT "WHY ARE YOU YELLING!??!"
Coach Golden is a straight up Boss. When hes rocking the deal with it sunglasses and walking around observing pre-game with Phil Collins in the background the other team needs to be taking the oppertunity on the other sidelines to warm that **** up. I was incredibly impressed with the adjustments made by Coach D after the first quarter and mostly during the half. He saw that our corners were getting manhandled so he rotated players until he found out who was going to be the best fit to play on the outside VS the option attack. The person who emerged was Artie Burns. Dont have a snap count, but he EASILY played more snaps in this game than in any other game this season. He was physical at the point of attack.
Guess we could throw out a couple of game balls
Allen Hurns - SO much talk about our WR in the offseason. "Its the strongest group", "deepest group", "best wr squad in country", and even "overrated". One thing that most people could agree on, however, is that we are a WR group who does things by committee and we dont have that "1" guy who can emerge to the cream of the crop. I hate to be "that guy" but dammit mane if I havent been hollering and shouting and screaming ALLEN HURNS for the last 2 years. This guy is incredibly consistent. He had a rare dropped pass yesterday but since hes Hurns he gets the ghetto pass. He has truly emerged as our best WR and the GO-TO guy. I cant believe that noone has mentioned this is Allens THIRD STRAIGHT 100 Yard receiving game. Be interesting to see the last Cane to do that.
AUTOBOT MCCORD - Someone wasnt happy playing this gimmicky offense. The pass rush specialist spent most of his time on the sidelines but he did get to come in and STRIKE DOWN UPON THEE WITH FURRRRRIOUS ANGER.
Morris - Despite the 2 picks had his best game by far.
Duke/Dallas - The 2 headed monster at runningback. Dallas "All I do is Score Touchdowns" Crawford punched in his 8th TD of the year while Duke was 2 yards away from a career high in rushing yards, although for the first time in 9 games did not score a TD.
Ladarius Gunter - Physical all day playing the run. He was the player of the game IMO. Had the pick six to seal it up.
The Canes out gained GT in total yards 551 to 401 and held GT to 6-16 on third downs.
Next up for the Canes after being off Saturday is a road game on a Thursday night vs the most overrated team in the ACC according to Canes fans. Alot of people had us penciled in to losing to UNC before the season started. I just cant see it. Canes by Ruthlessness. Im thinking 42-20 type of game.
Oh, and **** you Paul Johnson.
