Mistakes aside, we have some special prospects in this class.

Burns and Carter as as good DB prospects as we've signed in a long while. We now have the athleticism at DB we haven't seen in nearly a decade.

AQM is the best DE prospect we have signed in a loooong while. I don't even know who I'd rank higher than him.

Sandland should be a TE difference maker from day 1, and is a prospect on par with some of our NFL TEs, IMO.

Coley is one of the best WR prospects I've seen in a while. Certainly as good a WR prospect as UM has signed in a looong time.

Olsen is hopefully the best QB prospect we've brought in in a long time. We haven't brought in many good ones, so the bar's low here.

Grace is one terrific LB prospect, and honestly, I think Figueroa will surprise kids too.

Edwards, IMO, is under-rated. We have lacked a power back for a long time. I think Coley will use him and use him well. He will be a 245 lb. back getting touches for us. Our red zone results should improve.

Odogwu and Gall I like for different reasons. Odogwu for potential -- he certainly _could_ turn out to be a steal at his size and with his mobility and strength. And Gall, he reminds me of the sort of OSU* linemen we've lacked. Guys who don't stop when the whistle blows.

So for a small class, we have a lot of kids who could be really good. And I don't think I'm over-hyping anyone in saying this. They won't all be good, but that's a lot of talent. Hopefully the staff puts them in a position to succeed and they put in the work.

Agree.

I told some other people offline prior to Monday's annoucement that I wasn't too worried about Collins one way or the other if we got Edwards. We needed 1 back. We need to go all in on Michel and Cook, and we'll be in great shape.

The one that hurt brotha was Bostwick. We just got beat for him.

Don't care about Kirkland.

Thomas hurts, but this happens once in a while. Marvin Jones and Lamont Green come to mind.

As for the rest of our guys, I agree. I still hope we take that LB Ed Williams.

People get excited about Sandland, understandably so, but tend to forget about Dobard. We signed two top tier TEs. One that can step in right away and play next to Walford and one that has some time to develop.

Bond is also going to make an impact from day 1.

I didn't forget about Dobard, but I think it's less clear what caliber of player he will be. He could be great. Or not. Really don't have a feel for it. And he's not going to be game ready the way Sandland will be. Love Dobard's attitude but IMO he'll have to wait a bit to contribute.

As for Bond, we'll see. Maybe. AQM might step in front of him, and let's see how other guys develop during the spring. Bond's got to put on size, also.

Yeah, Bostwick is the one that hurts the most. Agree on Thomas. Great prospect but not a Cane. Oh well.

As for backs, if we get the guys we go after next year, Collins won't be missed. My only concern is people are talking about Clements having injury concerns. We will be shallow next year. But Edwards honestly adds a different element that we've lacked and IMO people are sleeping on him.

Is there any senior footage on Edwards, I never really paid attention before. Kid is from New york right? Does he look like a FB playing rb or a legit guy who can grab carries at UM?

I haven't watched much tape either, but I don't think he's just a FB. I think this kid gets the ball. FSU has a history of using bigger backs well and I'm hoping Coley gets us some of that. He's from Tottenville, IIRC, in any case.

Golden stated today that he wanted 3 DBs. I still don't understand why we didn't stay on Mac Alexander. He signed with Clemson. Did his brother sign there as well? If not, he should have been #3.

I didn't want to get into losses in this thread, but Robinson is actually one that I regret. He seems like he was receptive to us, but we never got on him early enough and LSU stole him. He will be a player. And he doesn't seem like a punk at all, unlike some of the clowns who dissed us today.

Mackenroe signed with Auburn. Staff just didn't like him.

There's some new senior tape out and it looks a lot better than his junior tape. Guy looks beastly.

I'll try to find it.

ethnic, let's get to the evaluation you place most importance on:

which one of the new class would you most like to bang your wife while you watch?

As often as you follow me around posting this stuff, it sounds more like you think I banged your mother and are just bitter about it. But I can assure you, that wasn't me. Might have been half your neighborhood and 13 of your half brothers, but it wasn't me. I know that because I don't bang ugly fat whores with moles on their nose.

Now, get to the WEZ where posts like your are tolerated, and leave the fb boards to adults.

Bond's got to put on size, also. ????

what?? are you kidding me, the kid is a monser already sure he can gain 10 more pounds he is sitting at 235 right 6.2 with a 4.65 40 without U tough....

Bond is the secret weapon in this class...older/stronger and had 17 sacks last yr as a JUCO...

any thought why? seems like a good kid and a baller. Was it numbers? We full with DBs?

Good post Ethnic. There is a lot to love about this class and I feel like we foung some real difference makers.

As Pete posted in his wrap-up Olsen will definse the success of this class. If he can develop as many of us feel he will he can take this class to another level.

I think we got what we wanted save for DT, 6, and Collins! Grace makes the loss of 6 sting less and staff never really thought 6 was coming anyhow. Collins is a big loss but Edwards was a nice get. Bostwich was obviously a big loss and Bryant the clown was good riddance imo. Pretty good class all things considering (negative recruiting, self imposed sanctions). Our DB is set for years to come, Our WR are set for years to come, got the qb we really wanted. Defensive line is biggest worry but we have some guys that we just need to develop (Hamilton comes to mind). Asside from Collins loss this is the class I expected. Solid B+ (if you factor everything in)

Its' a small class, but I think the quality is pretty high. Like I said in another post yesterday, if Olson had decommitted, then we should have panicked, he could be the real deal, and football's most important position is QB.

I agree with all of this. Notwithstanding the huge miss at DT (and the Collins/Thomas situations), we pulled in a ton of studs. While we can't get an "A" grade w/o a stud DT, I wouldn't consider anything less than a "B." And a B under the circumstances Golden was facing is very, very impressive.
