So, incredibly, it happened again. I had another Xavier Restrepo moment. SIAP.

Anyway For very bizarre reasons I wound up sitting solo in the West End Zone section 101 rather than my normal seats behind defensive benches. Had to grab a ticket at last minute after I sold my other ones and was scrambling due to change in plans.

During the game, some people around me pointed to a couple young kids with seats up close, front row I think, but more in the corner like by the tunnel VT came out of. They said “hey that’s Restrepos family”. I wasn’t sure who they pointed at but looked like two young kids (does he have younger brothers?).

After the game ended, I was lingering like most were and soaking in a wild solo game experience with a great crowd around me…and I hear people behind me saying “Restrepo is coming down”…and I look back and there he is, beelining down the aisle in full uniform (from the concourse) to go see folks in that area with his family, and celebrate. He picked up the kids and everyone was cheering. Then just like that he headed back to the front section while everyone was high fiving and congratulating him, got to an area where he could exit down to the field, and was gone.

What a thing to be those kids, and what a role model. And how cool to have a player walk right past your row in full gear after a big win. Only in College Football.

I’m sure others in that vicinity who stayed after the ending can validate, it was still pretty full.
