My Game Observations...

Down 14-0 I was pretty concerned. I think we came out pretty flat overall and the Defensive Line had absolutely no push... Overall I would say it was a pretty pathetic display of effort on the D.

I think that once Perryman picked off that pass, everything changed with the tempo of the team. Everyone started playing faster on D... 2nd half the team came out with much more hunger and effort. Those turnovers (Strip by L. Robinson and Eddie Johnson) were clutch and really gave us the win! Some notes:

Did anyone see Ereck Flowers??? - Super Solid and I can honestly say that I doubt Seantrel makes it back in the starting lineup. Lets just say no one mentioned his name once!! (which is a very good thing!)

Kendall Thompkins needs to get off the field and stay off. My god, he can't catch a roll of toilet paper! Super disappointing considering how every coach talked him up!

Duke Johnson - yea yea, we all knew... but seriously, When was the last time a true freshmen made THAT BIG of an impact in a game for us??? Anyone? I really don't know!! Insane good player and our first game changer in YEARS!!

Offensive Line was absolutely solid, and played to their expectations! I was very impressed with their pulling and opening up some of those runs. I couldn't entirely gauge how the pass blocking was since we threw those quick passes pretty much the entire game!

Mike James is going to take a back seat a lot sooner than I thought.

WR's overall did fairly well. Hurns looks pretty good and was very impressed with Malcolm Lewis (not one of those guys to drop balls)

Overall, we scored 34 points on offense so what more can you ask for in Game 1 on the road?? Come back from 14 down and hold BC to 1 score in the 2nd half?? Not bad at all!


The Kansas State game will be the key and most telling about what our team is made of!

We need Henderson back and I suspect he starts or gets the most snaps against KSU. Nothing against Flowers but he is no Henderson

Thompkins dropped two balls but he made some great blocks that sprung quite a few plays. We need him to play well because in the future good defenses will sit and press our wideouts and he is one of the few who can beat a jam.

I know I seem like the biggest Seantrel fan but going by the bold what has Seantrel showed that say this? Flowers held his own today. I'd bet Golden sticks to Flowers.

Flowers is a good player but let's not forget he is a freshman. When we go against stout defenses we will need Henderson. Who are we fooling? We all know that Henderson is a NFL player. We got to get him ready for KSU and in the game fast.

The only potential first day tackle I know is Ereck Flowers. Let it go, Henderson will be lucky to get his job back, and Thompkins is terrible.

Things happen. Just was not his day. Although he did had the drops he made some very good blocks and contributed in other ways. We are going to need him next week and I think he rebounds and makes a few plays.

This game confirmed all the weaknesses many of us anticipated. Our DL is woeful. That no name qb looked like a heisman trophy finalist, bc we could get zero pressure from the front four. The young players are special, but you can't rely on so many young (especially freshmen) guys and not have it bite you at some point. We escaped from a mediocre BC squad thanks to several turnovers, including an inexplicable pick six when they were dominating us.

On the positive side, perryman and hurns are taaking the next step, morris was more than solid, and duke makes you forget about miller. And wE do appear to be in much better shape. They were still playing fast in the 4th.

Yea Gore showed he was special... But I was meaning more of a difference maker in a critical point of the game, i.e. that 4th down run and those two huge touchdowns! I can only imagine what the future is as he gets more comfortable and experience... yikes!!

Exactly!! The defense especially seemed to get better as the game went on, definitely attributed to the conditioning of the team! Offense played hurry up the majority of the game!!
