I for one don't like Spring Games. Its like having your own kids compete against one another... you don't want anyone to win or lose. But I was extremely excited for this new endeavor. Got to the Stadium about 9:00 and set up for the tailgating... Had a great time ... I was joined by family and friends about 25 of us in all... Where I messed up was, I allowed my phone to go dead before logging on to Cane insight to find some of you guys... and about an hour into tailgating activities... I forgot my phone was in the car on the charger... next time. This was a new experience.. the first time watching Shaq play where I wasn't on the sideline... can't get in his ear when he needs it. The first part of the game I was tunneled in on him but then started watching the entire game the best I could... I honestly felt the game was toned down purposely not to expose any weakness... but It was enough to see what was working and what needs to be worked on. For the sake of redundancy I will not mention the thing already mentioned in other post.. but what stood out to me was Berrios ... all the RBs Gray included showed signs of great potential... Herndon and Njoku are ballers... Talked with Mullins at half time... he is ready to play... he was extremely excited and chomping at the bit. He said when "We" come in, we are going to shake some things up. They will be needed... I can't wait for them to get here... I think Shaq and Mike did a great job.. They appeared to fit right in... Zack fell behind a couple of weeks do to injury.. but I know he will catch up... Talked with Owens... he can't wait... feeling a bit down .. not feeling the love over on the sideline... but I told him he has nothing to worry about... I said the comp is between them two... pointing to Mike and Shaq... I said one of them is in your spot... You don't worry about any of that you just come back and work your a$$ off... and let the cards fall where they may... Met with the staff after the game... there is a very noticeable change in the staff... the tone is different... want say good or bad... the play on the field will determine which methods works. If I had to bet I would put my money on this staff. I bought Nick with me and they scooped him up right away... I was pleased... they act as if they were really happy to see him.. He had a great time... hanging with Shaq, Darrion and Mike after the game... got a taste of Miami's night life... He really wants to come to Miami. We finished the night off at Wet Willies at the HardRock Seminole.. Again had a great time #stillcan 'twait

Aside from your admitted rookie mistake with the cell phone, this is good stuff......thanks for the report.

Thank you sir. Always appreciate the insight. You must be fired up for how well Shaq has adjusted. I'm glad Nick enjoyed himself and was showed some love. He's a gonna be a player, hopefully for the Canes!

Go Canes!

Thanks for the update. I'm excited to see what Berrios can do this year as well. Good news about Nick! I really hope they keep him in this class. We need all the DB help we can get! Look forward to the regular season version of the updates! Congrats Pop!

The old "my phone battery died" excuse to avoid hanging out with the mongrels from CIS. Well played, friend. Well played.

Congrats on getting your boy this far. I watched the game on ESPN3, Shaq looked good for a true freshman, looks like a vet out there.

I am so pleased to hear about Nick, we need talent at the corner position and I for one expect Darrion to reclaim a
Position as well, Glad to see Shaq and Mike play well in the Game, I can't wait until Ahmmon, Bruce, Mullins and Dayall
Get here.

Really can't wait to see Romeo Finley and Jeff James I believe they will open some eyes.

Thanks man. Don't feel bad about the distractions. Drove down from Tampa. Met some of my old frat Bros (early 80's cats) at the game and we were so excited to see each other and reminiscing that I couldn't focus like my intent. Main difference I saw was intensity, execution, focus (minimal penalties) and sensible schemes on both sides. So happy to see competitive interior DLine play. If Moten can get it in gear then DL will be deep and LB'er job will be much easier (faster). Gotta say Chad didn't wow me. St. Louis blocked him very well. DB's were not johnny on the spot when some catches were made. If they do catch it you need to drop them there. Overall big difference and looking to great season

Concerned to hear about DOwens. Hope he isnt letting the "mental" aspect of being injured get to him. Sitting around and waiting and watching coaches coach other players to take your spot cant be fun. And God knows we will need him. While I love Shaq and Mikes progression I dont want two trues starting the season at LB. We need DOwens to take back that spot from Mike Pinckney. Let Mike play his backup and provide VERY quality depth. (or the other way around if Mike is just the better player by that much.)

Glad you had a great time in SoFla. Great weather for the Spring game.

Forget the football stuff. Just watched Shaq's presser. He is an outstanding mature young man. You and the Wife are to be commended. I know you must be proud.

Glad that Nicl was getting love... kid is a lockdown corner who plays bigger than he is..... a gym rat...and a fierce competitor

Remind DO that AQM had to sit out a whole season and is now the leader of the defense. It's all mental for a kid with his talent. He just needs to get his groove back.

Apologize for not knowing...but are you the father of Shaq or Zack?

If so, what as a PARENT attracted to you to UM over other programs? What as a parent are you looking for as your student athlete grows personally during his time at the University?

Great insight if you can share...

Please don't tell a football player that he needs to get his groove back unless you want him to start sucking dyck and wearing sun dresses.
