Our Special Teams Coach, Mr. Golden, has once again pressed the magic button with our kicking game.
And at bargain rates.
First, he brings in a PROVEN, top ranked punter --- no, not a 'top ranked', but THE PROVEN NUMERO UNO D-! punter, formerly of Cincy, Pat O'Donell! Granted, he's only here for 1 year, but he can win a few games for us in that year! This scholie was available and, IMHO, well used!
Next, he signs two more talented guys for the future -- One Kicker, Joshua (AKA 'Automatic') Bacon; one Punter, Austin Barnard; and Max Frietas, a kid who does both, to add competition. And all of 'em are Preferred Walk-ons! Means they gotta earntheir scholie!

All too often the kicking game goes un-noticed --- until one goes 'wide-right', or gets shanked 15 yards in the 4th quarter. But thes guys are VALUABLE!! They can win a game, or lose a winable one.

In addition, he brought in a scholarship quality QB, Garrison Lassiter, who played BB with the Yankees, for added competion, w/o using a scholie (Yankees paying tuition.)

Fortunately, Al Gets it!

With the walk-on kickers brought in, one thing that gives me some hope that they may compete for FG duties immediately is that they both kicked off the ground their senior year. That is big for curbing the transition to the college game (although they still need to adjust to the much smaller margin for error).

I hope we can find one guy between Goudis, Bacon, Freixa, and our other walk-ons that we can count on to consistently convert from 45 in. 45+ yarders are gravy

someone needs to disable this guys font-sizes and he should only be able to bold 1 word in each post.

p.s. "D-!" .. shift+1 will not give you an upper case 1 (no such thing) but it wil give you that other character on top of the keyboard.

btcane makes a good point, though. Does anyone know which of these guys have actually enrolled so far?

Good points... Btcane.

Golden continually upgrades every position any chance he can... Golden himself is a beast!

Lassiter & O'Donnel are in. Others, this week, I believe.

Best way to check is to go to the official roster, posted on the UM Athletics site. They can't put someone on the roster until he registers.

WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING?!!!!!!!!

The pick up with Lassiter is huge, but O'Donnell...that's just awesome!

Not even trying to be a ****, but it's not just forum police here. The font and bolding just makes a hard to read.

I like free kickers but never get caught up in the nicknames. Kickers are always automatic, receivers are glue hands and any WR/RB/QB with a name that starts with T is always Touchdown.
