Morris Regression Article

**** article. Fisch is a true QB guru but Whipple isn't? Whipple was never an NFL coordinator (as article states) but he has spent a large portion of his career in the NFL as a Quarterbacks coach. Coley just helped groom two 1st round NFL quarterbacks at FSU....I think he can probably coach the position.

He goes on to state that Morris's numbers are similar to last year, then goes on to basically say "he regressed this year, just trust me". There are no tangible statistics or matrix you can use to prove other than Morris had a few decent games against ****** opponents at the end of the year last year under Fisch.

His completion percentage (pre bowl game), yards per attempt, TD's (same # as last year) and rating were all higher this year than last, all while having less than 100 less attempts. His interceptions were up slightly, however, he had an inordinate amount of picks dropped in 2012.

My point is, there was no noticeable "regression" with Morris. He was bad last year and bad this year. He's a bad quarterback. Rocks for brains, no pocket presence and the anti-competitor. Any NFL GM that pulls the trigger on this zombie should get fired on the spot.

The legend of Jedd Fisch continues.

Not making excuses for the kid, but that injury seemed to have a pretty major effect on him this season. I'm not saying he would have won the heisman if not for the injury, but I think it would be naive to think that it didn't play a part in some of his poor performances.

Morris was never close to a complete quarterback. He benefited greatly from being good at one skill the deep ball with South Florida speed at the WR. Other than that he was very inconsistent, had accuracy problems on basic short throws, poor pocket presence, lazy foot work and questionable ability to read defenses and progress through his reads. Jedd just hide his deficiencies better than Coley imo.

Williams will offer more consistency and fewer 3 and outs next year but Miami really will benefit and show a great leap improvement once Olsen or Kaaya take over the helm.

Great stuff right here.

Morris's lack of ability to be a playmaker was the single biggest issue the Canes offense had this year, Point blank!!!

With the exception of a strong arm and a decent leader, Morris lacked everything else needed to be a successful College QB.

Nice kid, very average QB...

Pretty much this. He's an up and down/streaky player regardless of the talent on his team or the opposition. Having said that, he feasted mostly on the defenses devoid of any and was mediocre at best (save for Virginia Tech this year) for the most part against teams where teams matched up with us athletically.

Fisch gets an awful lot of praise for results that were very similar to what we saw this season. In Miami's biggest games in 2012 under Fisch, UM was blown out at KSU, ND, and lost by double digits to FSU at home. The only game that Morris has played remotely decent in the last two years agains top flight competition was the UF game. Which UM managed 212 yards of total offense.

I ******* hate Bleacher Report. The "articles" read like 4th grade book reports. I don't know how anyone can take that waste of bandwidth seriously. As far as Morris, I realize that statistically his 2013 season is pretty similar to his 2012 season, but I feel like his numbers this season were aided by a number of Stacy Coley WR screens that went for big yards. We ranked 3rd nationally in Passing Plays of 30+ yards (vs. 15th in 2012) but just 61st in passing plays of 10+ yards (40th in 2012). I think we can all agree that Morris was useless at sustaining drives. Our 3rd down conversion % dropped from 39% (already bad) to 35% from 2013 to 2012.

In the face of a litany of preseason unwarranted prognostications that Morris would be a stud, a few of us pointed out that his production for the prior two years gave no indication that he would be anything other than a decent quarterback. A strong arm is great, and it shines at QB camps without pads, but it's down the list for QB qualities that lead to success in games.

and Morris's limitations were exacerbated by his injury. He then lost confidence, and you might as well stick a fork in a QB, if he lacks confidence. Further, the OL gave him no protection against Louisville, which resulted in a disastrous offensive performance.

I wish him the best....BTW all things that can be learned
