Delete this thread probably not worthy of its own but did anyone else watch the Mannings last night?

Bellicheat was talking Ravens and he was very complimentary of Ray Lewis. However…

When he talked about Ed Reed he couldn’t say enough. He had nothing but respect for both but man he was out of words for Ed Reed.

Just nice to hear…and with our current defense oh the memories of other teams celebrating a single first down like they won it all!

He was gushing over Reed. Physicality, presence, deep coverage skills, ability to be near the line pre snap and back 25 yeards at the snap (and vice versa) and mix it up in a very confusing way. Best summary was when he said he told Brady to know where Ed was on every play.

Btw, I've heard Brady say similar about Reed

Its no secret BB loves him some ed reed.

There is a segment with Ed, some other broadcaster and BB and they are talking about a play he picked off Peyton. Like he baited Peyton, knew the play, turned his back as if he was bailing the opposite direction then went and got the INT. BB said it was the best play he has EVER seen from a safety.

Then I think another time during hardknocks or something similar Brady and him are brainstorming for the Ravens game and they were both talking about and trying to figure out ways to avoid ed reed.

There is even a micd up segment I saw on twitter today from 2009 where BB finds Reed on the field before the pats/ravens game and he calls him the best safety he has ever seen, references a few plays he made last week, like ed was just trying to warm up and BB was trying to talk to him like a fan,

I hung out with Ed Reed a few months ago in Baltimore. I was smoking his ER20 branded cigars, and he walked up to me and immediately taught me how to smoke his cigars properly. He couldn't have been nicer and more down-to-earth. Great guy. At the time he was NOT a fan of Mario, but maybe this season will change that ...

Ed Reed has been Bills viagra for as long as I can remember.

Not if Ed likes defense.

Bill LOVES Ed. I remember him talking about him on the NFL Greatest 100 players for their 100th anniversary. Bro legit has a man crush on Reed.

And Manning. Manning has some good clips out there about ER20 too. If only Sean lived then we’d have 2 of the greatest to ever play that position.
I wonder if anyone has ever done it…

Take the all time greatest players at each school and simulate a playoff…

I like our chances…I am sure others would too but it would be cool.

There was a segment last year I think where they asked Brady who the toughest DB he ever faced and he said Ed

In hindsight it may have been best defensive player he faced

BB loves Ed Reed and even Tom Brady said he was the one DB he hated to play against the most.

What is Ed doing now? I believe his time as chief of staff or whatever overlapped briefly into the Mario's tenure, perhaps he did not like Mario because Mario did not want him on staff or in the position he was? I then remember he was announced as HC of Bethune, Bethune like declined his contract though then Ed spoke out against the school. But I honestly cant say I have heard much of him since.

You know, I was going to ask the exact same thing.

Obviously when he was employed here he was everywhere. And we know he is a huge supporter. So - why is Michael Irvin carrying the torch on the sidelines and as a mentor for players? Is Ed coming back to talk to the players, mentoring them, showing up at practices, etc. -or is there some weird rift?

Lord knows the Safetys could use some great guidance from ER20. You could argue we've never needed him more.

What gives?

Well, I don't know if our conversation had an expectation of privacy or not, but don't want to share too much in case he thought it was private or in case I get the details wrong. But it sounded like it did not end well between Ed and Mario - Mario took away certain access Ed had. But he was clear that he loves the University and wants Mario to succeed.

This was an event celebrating his foundation in Baltimore. It was a nice event and he and his family and friends were great.

Fair enough I didn't mean to make that sound directed at you, was more of a general question, but I appreciate your response and of course fully respect your integrity on the matter. I'm the same way. I think roughly speaking that sounds like what I figured. Hopefully something that can improve down the road. Safety position could really use some great mentoring.
