Claiming an offer on Twitter. Played LG next to Isaiah Walker last year. Excellent feet and good athlete, wonder how big he is. Looking forward to seeing him at Rivals Camp in a couple weeks.
Nothing against Marshall (I think he's a worthy recruit, not sure of offer yet, but we are gonna need 5-6 OL for sure)
But I guess it's not possible for us to just recruit or "watch" a local kid anymore? They are automatically "offered?"
Sad, but no. Kids want the respect of an "offer." Nothing to do with this kid, but I don't mind throwing all these offers out as long as the bar for committing is raised (no other OVs or Top 5/10s, etc.).
When local kids have been dropped for one reason or another, my perception is the blow back has been minimal (since behind the scenes everyone knows why albeit grades, maturity, $$$, or lack of progression). So better to have a strategy where they feel they got the initial respect.

This is better than the alternative, such as ignoring local OL until schools like LSU and Clemson offer.
On another note...I def understand why Isaiah Walker was a top priority for this class...And that most of his recruitment is projection, and even based on that he's a miss and this class would look better with him him in it. BUT...Man on this tape, he looked like a turnstile on a few plays. Maybe it was how fast he put on weight in the last year, and he's just catching up with his body. But I may be thinking more RT than LT with him.
Just saying. Obviously has his positives as a prospect this year.
in my opinion rivers is better than Walker. Always felt that way. Wouldve loved Walker though as well in the class
