They fire their bum coach and somehow end up with a coach from Bama. Continuity!

"Alabama offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier will become the new Michigan offensive coordinator, a source told CBS Wednesday. The move was driven by a strong recruiting effort by coach Brady Hoke and Wolverines AD Dave Brandon that included a robust financial commitment to Nussmeier, who now will be among the five highest-paid coordinators in college football, according to the source.

The 43-year-old Nussmeier replaces Al Borges, who spent three seasons at Michigan, where the offense has backslide statistically in each of those seasons, going from No. 42 to No. 78 down to No. 87 this season."

Golden is sabotaging this program in favor of his friendship. It's unbelievable.

Wait, you mean you can fire an awful coordinator and hire a better one? WTF? Why didn't anyone tell Golden?

:)

We played that game with Coker and Shannon. It didn't work because we had bum head corches. Firing Dorito and continuing to run the same dumpster fire of a defensive scheme is tantamount to putting a Band-Aid on an amputation.

Golden's not firing his buddy because he knows it's THEIR defense and that firing his best buddy for his own failures would be unconscionable. That would be like McDonalds firing a store manager because of complaints that the food is unhealthy.

Fire Duh and then bring in some other stooge to run this busted philosophy. Golden is who he is just like Shannon and Coker were who they were despite all the coordinators and position corches that they scapegoated over the years.

For a corollary, watch Saban plug another fairly nameless OC in and not skip a beat. They'll miss McCarron, so they might not be as good offensively, but they'll get it rolling again and probably improve another area of the team to make up for the loss of McCarron.

Borges was the fall guy at Michigan who went 7-6 and regressed. A head needed to roll.

Saban also reportedly wasn't thrilled with Bama's offense and Nussmeier leaving isn't really a loss in their minds. They could have matched his offer if they wanted to.

We went 9-4. "Got better / trending up" and don't need a fall guy in the administrations eyes. Besides Al can say that they don't have the man power but still got better.

Blake James doesn't have the chops to demand changes from Al just yet. Like it or not Al and D are getting another year to show something as Michigan didn't have a "cloud" and doesn't really have an excuse for sucking. DNo does in Blake's eyes whether you and I like it or not

One more year. That has to be it. It's all Golden and Doritos guys next year aside from any fifth year seniors. Next year is the last straw....and that's being gracious. If the D isn't turned around by next year he will have to make the necessary changes. The cloud **** will only get you so far.

This. Hoke has a little heat and knew he needed a change. Our coaches seat isn't even luke warm. Guy is as secure as it gets.

Does Mccarron, Cooper , stable of backs and loaded ol get to come with him? If not, meh hiring at best. Nix could coach that offense in AL.

Was a great move by Michigan, but also probably a move out of necessity by Hoke to try and keep his job. Their defense got lit up to and the defense is his baby and I'm pretty sure Mattison is staying.

I still believe that Golden hitching his wagon to Dorito will be his undoing here. They have proven inept at fielding a defense that can outscheme an opponent and are not putting the players in the best scheme to succeed.

it wasn't his undoing at temple.. I'm still not sure why people don't grasp that this is Al's defense..

One thing you can say about Golden. He isn't scapegoating his staff for what is clearly his failures.
