Miami vs Duke: I’m ready for Cam to throw 10 times on Saturday

Duke is just ahead of FSU in rush defense. 98th vs 100th despite literally leading the conference in tackles for loss. The most Manny Diaz stat ever.

Easy 200+ on the ground again Saturday.

This is the quintessential Manny defense.

#9 in the country in TFLs per game but only 44th in sacks per game
#9 in passer rating allowed
#6 in yards per attempt allowed
#18 in completion percentage allowed
#98 in rushing yards per game allowed
#71 in yards per carry allowed, even though you're getting all those TFLs and some sacks

It's Manny to a T. Havoc plays, get you behind the sticks on 3rd down, play on your side of the LOS, but get out leveraged in the run game and give up a lot of yards.

Also, let's not forget, feast on really ****** QBs. Duke has played Elon, Northwestern, UConn, Middle Tennessee State, UNC, GT, FSU, and SMU. Against GT and SMU, the only 2 decent passers they've seen, first of all they lost both games, secondly those were the 2 worst games they've had this year in terms of passer rating allowed.

Additionally, here are the Running Back totals they've allowed:

Northwestern (Porter) - 16 for 94 and 2 TDs
UConn (Edwards) - 10 for 106 and 1 TD
Middle Tennessee State (Credle) - 12 for 125 and 1 TD
UNC (Hampton) - 29 for 103 (Good job on him, he's a stud)
Georgia Tech (Haynes) - 19 for 128
FSU (Davis) - 14 for 63
SMU (Brashard Smiff) - 26 for 117

Fletcher and Martinez are both going over 100 in this game. And they haven't seen a passing attack anywhere close to Cam Ward and our receivers. IMO we approach 500 yard again on Saturday. 200+ on the ground and 250+ in the air, and we score 40+.

Their offense may be worse than FSU’s also.

No it's not, but it's VERY bad.

They are basically the same team as FSU, honestly. With a less talented front 4, but a slightly better offense. And why do I say this? Because Vegas views them as exactly equal.

Last week, all week up until some late steam just before kickoff, Miami was about a 21 point favorite, with a total of 54.5

This week, Miami is currently -21 at Draftkings, and the total is 55. It's a carbon copy spread.

We will not be challenged this week.

Haven’t seen us utilize a good delayed draw yet. That was always a Manny killer.

Screens and misdirection, too. Delayed releases. We've seen some of that (TD against the gator comes to mind), but we have very few, if any, traditional screens to the backs. We know Manny's kids are frantic on defense and have poor eye discipline, I hope we try to run some delayed releases, releases from the backfield, plays where their backers and safeties have to diagnose and react versus playing downhill.

I’d like to see a few of those middle wide receiver screens. They ran one against FSU but never went back. Very effective against an aggressive pass rush/man coverage.

I don’t think we are a good screen team. The tunnel screens always look clunky. Even the ones that do generate some yardage

Hoping for a balanced attack Saturday even though our hope is to rush the ball and win the possession battle. I think we still need to pass to setup the run, look for Cam to get back to his 300+yd and 2-3TD performance. Between Fletcher and Martinez we should exceed 200yds on the ground as well. Provided we maintain focus, this game should see backups in the mid to late 4th quarter
