The defense justifiably bears the brunt of the blame, but it was inexcusable for Martinez and Fletcher to have the same number of snaps on a day where Fletcher averaged just 3.5 YPC on 13 carries vs. Martinez averaging 8+ YPC on only 10 carries.

Our 2nd quarter swoons throughout the year have been in part because we tend to feature Martinez in the 1st and 4th quarters, which is uncoincidentally when we've had the most success offensively.

With everything at stake, we needed to make Martinez the workhorse instead of being stuck in a literal 50/50 timeshare with a lesser talent and failed to do so. Hard to criticize the offense when they've been so great all year, but your margins for error are so razor thin when your defense is this historically inept.

Pruitt made the best defensove play of the day and he played 4 snaps. I know we say Mario and co. will play the best players but that's not true.....he's better about it than Manny but they still trot out trash while talent rots on the bench in some cases (Kiko, Harris, etc.)

1. Syracuse QB finished the regular season #1 in passing yards in all of college football.

2. Now look at how many, or lack of, snaps we had at defensive back.

CB
OJ Frederique - 73 snaps
Daryl Porter - 64 snaps
Damari Brown - 7 snaps
SS
Mishael Powell - 73 snaps
Jaden Harris - 66 snaps
Markeith Williams - 63 snaps
Zaquan Patterson - 8 snaps

So it begs the question: what if we had good/great secondary unit this year?

Wasted snaps with Clark and Cook. Some of those could’ve went to Scott. Need to see if we actually have something there
