Miami lost to the Florida State Seminoles 80-65 at the Watsco Center yesterday afternoon. Miami's small forward, Matthew Cleveland, stepped up in the second half of the game; however, it wasn't enough to secure a win. He mentioned that the team is just "a couple of plays away" from winning in these games.

"We're right there, were a couple of plays away from having these last three wins or even before that pretty much all the games... If we lock in at practice, take the preparation super seriously, and really translate it to the game and imagine it in the game, we will see these results turning into wins.

Senior Matthew Cleveland achieved his fifth consecutive double-digit game, scoring 16 points and grabbing five rebounds. Sophomore Paul Djobet also reached double figures, contributing 13 points.

The "couple of plays" he mentioned were crucial moments when the Hurricanes desperately needed points but failed to score. On the defensive end, they struggled significantly, especially against FSU, who was outstanding from three-point range yesterday.

Miami also needs a guard who can bring the ball up the court, clear out for one-on-one situations, break the press, and establish the offense, especially when both Nijel Pack and Divine Ugochukwu are sidelined with injuries.

Miami tends to get a little too eager when they start to gain some momentum, leading the Canes to take some difficult shots that just haven't been falling this season. It's important for us to establish our offense and utilize Lynn Kidd effectively. We should focus on cutting and passing off him during those times when we feel like we're gaining some traction.
