So I am watching UCF and I wonder if we would have benefitted from staying in the AAC? Your thoughts?

Any team would benefit being in a weaker conference imo. Our move to the acc unfortunately coincided with the coker Shannon era

I don't like the idea of playing in a weak conference like that. The only way to legitimize yourself would be to play a very strong OOC schedule; otherwise a 1 loss season would have you ranked outside of the top 15. See Louisville.

The problem isn't the conference we are in, its our inability to field a quality team. Do you think the teams of the early 2000's would have any problem winning the ACC title given the current competition? I certainly don't.

Of course we would have. Fact is Butch Davis would have been burned at the stake and run out of town had he been playing in the ACC during the mid to late 90s. Being in a tougher conference means there are less "gimmie" games. Doesnt mean every team is a huge opponent, but it does mean there are more "average" teams that you do have to show up against, becuase they can sneak up and bite you in the @ss if you overlook them. This makes the season a lot harder on your roster, becuase there arent as many games where you can rest your starters, or put in a lot of young guys to gain experience.

Im not saying I would want to be in the AAC, I think its a joke, but there is no question that its an easier conference and that our record would look a LOT better over the last few years.

We'd be more irrelevant in the AAC than we are in the ACC. Attendance would be less than 25,000 per game and FAU would be salivating to play us every year.
