And based on current positions groups it definitely remains to be seen.

Though I know you're talking about rankings.

But man, Golden could recruit.

So it’s your position that a majority (7/11) of our position groups plus our coaching are all worse than in 2014 when we went 6-7?
Nope.

Based purely on composite scores this is a significantly more powerful team than 2014. Depth is generally better in most position groups. There are 54 blue chip players (12 more than in 2024) versus the 25 of 2014. The only hesitancy is that we know the outcomes of that 2014 squad. Some players like Njoku and Berrios outperformed their rankings. Miami’s squad is still largely theoretical.

Our OC is better than Coley. DC is a TBD, but hopefully better than D’Nofrio.

Maybe more. A few I wasn't confident enough for a gif.

If you look at some of those names we were quite stacked. If you look at some of the games in 2014 we were close to winning many. Obviously defense let us down.

Al Golden actually had the program on the cusp. He just wasn't willing to do the one thing that he needed to do and it cost the fans, the players, the program, and ultimately his job.

Yeah, I knew what you were saying. I was addressing that to @mcnaire2004. I appreciate your good data and the time you took putting this post together!

re you delusional, did I not read we don't have a TX Qb. Watch the SBC and you will see winners at the Helm

****, did not expect to see so much talent on that 2014 team. When you look at the roster he left behind, the success he had on offense here (especially given the sanctions), and the success he had as ND DC...is it possible Golden is actually a very good coach, but firing 1 man was the difference between a long, successful HC career and being a career assistant?

Who was scouting tight ends for Miami in 2014? Get that person a job here now. Has any team had that many “diamond in the rough” players at tight end? You essentially had 3 NFL guys who were all 3 star players. The highest rated guy was the worst of the group but I believe even he had a cup of coffee in the NFL.

How Al Golden managed to win 6 games every year with as much NFL talent as they recruited is mind boggling.
