DJ Hernandez, a Miami graduate assistant who spent last season helping coach the Canes' wide receivers, confirmed on Twitter that he will be joining the Iowa football coaching staff to coach tight ends.
@DjHernandez14: Packin so i can move to Iowa ASAP to begin my new coaching position wit the Hawkeyes.Thx coach golden n evry1 at UM for gr8 experience.
There is a connection here that explains this move. Hernandez is the brother of New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who was coached by Brian Ferentz last season in the NFL. Brian Ferentz is now on the Iowa staff and coached the offensive line this past season.
Miami also has to replace receivers coach George McDonald, who was recently hired at Arkansas.
