Let's assume FSU out-recruited us thru 2011.
But how did we stack up with them in 2012 and how is it looking for 2013?

They will always out recruit us star wise. The key is to keep them out of South Fla

IMO both teams hit the mother load in their 2012 classes. We had a bigger class and took more long-term "project" type kids (like Hoilett, O'Donnell, Terry, Dortch, etc.) who we're gonna have to wait and see on. Both teams are looking stellar for 2013. If Golden/Jimbo stick around and the NCAA doesn't SMU us, these two programs & the rivalry are back.

Combined:
QB: Miami - Olsen, Dewey, Crow FSU - Jameis Winston, Sean McGuire
RB: Miami - Duke, Dillard, Collins FSU - Pender, Green
WR: Miami - AJL, Lewis, Waters, Lockhart, Jones, Carter FSU - Jesus Wilson, Isaiah Jones, Tony Stevens, Bracy
TE: Miami - Dobard, Johnson, Kerr FSU - Kourtzidis, Morgan
OL: Miami - Flowers, Gadbois, Isidora, Gall FSU - Denson, Golson, Hoefield, Glauser, Watson

DE: Miami - Hamilton, McCord, O'Donnell, Hoilett FSU - Edwards, Bellamy
DT: Miami - Moore, Briscoe, Ivory, Bryant FSU - Shanks, Goldman, Stuckey
LB: Miami - Kirby, Blue, Terry FSU - Northrup, Eligwe, Hoskins, Levenberry, Lyons, Stevenson
DB: Miami - Howard, Bush, Carter, Burns, Crawford, Dortch, Hope, Jenkins, Gunter, Lewis III FSU - Darby (4), Blake (4), Williams (4), Johnson (3), White (3), Baker (3),

Up and down the list I don't think either team's fans would trade for the other's signees at most positions.

Their class last year was amazing and their class this year is looking good. Like someone else posted in this thread, they will always get theirs. The key is that Golden gets the ones he wants. FSU and Miami generally target different kids except for a few each year. Obviously the big ones this year are Thomas, Kirkland, Williams. If Golden can close on those three, that's all that matters in regards to FSU v Miami in recruiting this year

I'm actually not that impressed with FSU's class at the moment, but I'm worried about how they close. They could close with Mackenzie Alexander, Leon McQuay, Stacey Coley, Laremy Tunsil. Of course, they are also trying to get M. Thomas and Collins.

I've heard that they're not taking anymore receivers, unless they're moving Wilson to DB.

I'd definitely trade for their defensive tackles.

I think they wiff on all of these except alexander

The kid that concerns me is Jameis Winston. In an environment like Tallahassee, it's guys like Winston that have the most success. Look at the legendary Noles: Deion Sanders, Charlie Ward, Derrick Brooks, Warrick Dunn. It takes character to meet your potential in that city.

Word on Winston is he still struggles with accuracy.. great arm but we all know accuracy issues can derail your career ask CHRIS RIX

FSU hits on more national recruits, especially right now. We're simply not going to beat them for 5* recruits outside of Dade and Broward counties. But I believe (hope) that this staff knows how to evaluate and is indefatigable in finding the 3* and low 4* guys out there with major upside (i.e., the "Butch recruits") who will buy into Al and his system. I'm confident that Al will be one of the best in the business at developing kids, so the slight variance in star rating between the two teams' recruiting classes does not concern me. Once we hit on local studs like 6 consistently, we'll have all the star power needed to beat the sh*t out of FSU in the coming years. That said, we MUST land a stud d tackle every year.
