The Miami Hurricanes announced they will open their season with an exhibition against the St. Leo Lions on Friday, October 30, at the Watsco Center.

This is not the first matchup between the two teams. The Canes kicked off the 2012-2013 with an upset loss to the Lions, who beat Miami 69-67 in a thriller.

This is a SEC inspired schedule to game the efficiency metric ranking systems.

Demolish the bad teams to pad efficiency and keep it close (or win) against the couple good teams we play.

Coach L came to Miami almost entirely because he wanted to coach in the ACC - a conference which he reveres. You know he is absolutely burning to defend the ACC as the best basketball conference in America… and I don’t think he likes all the gushing over SEC basketball.

Not too many cupcakes on that schedule Farleigh ****inson, Coppin State, Mount Saint Mary's and Presbyterian have all made the tournament in the past few years if I remember correctly. The SEC part about gaming the rankings is a great point as well as having a chance to show ACC supremacy.
