When you think of Belen Jesuit you think of Academics and Brotherhood, but for 2020 Belen Jesuit RB Don Chaney Jr. Belen is the place to be
“It’s truly an honor and a privilege ” Chaney said “Being at Belen is special and Belen is a place where you want to be.”
For those that don’t know. Chaney’s dad Don Chaney played at South Carolina. Some would suggest that South Carolina would be the front runner in his recruitment due to his fathers ties to the school, but it’s the local Hurricanes that have caught his attention.
“Miami is my #1 school,” Chaney said “Miami is an amazing school, I’ve seen their facilities and everything that the program brings… That’s a school that you want to be at, That’s a school that will change your life.”
“South Carolina is pretty big because of my dad, but they are somewhere in the middle.”
Another school recruiting the 5 star running back is the University of Florida, and even with the recent fiasco taking place in Gainesville, Chaney says that he’s still looking at UF.
It doesn’t affect me honestly,” Chaney said “UF is still the same team, I know Jim has been their for a long time so they are probably going to keep the same way they coach and stuff.”
Chaney isn’t ready to make a decision just yet, but he does have a list of top schools behind the hometown Hurricanes.
“Miami, Florida, FSU, LSU and Notre Dame are my top five schools.”
When I asked Chaney about how the current records of the BIG3 in the state of Florida would affect his recruitment, he had this to say.
“The records don’t really play a major role in my recruitment,” Chaney said “It’s about what the school is and what the school is offering you and your family.”
Prediction: “Miami wins 32-22.”
Chaney will be in attendance for tomorrow’s game against Virginia Tech
Chaney’s sophomore stats: 1230 yards & 20 TD’s
