McGee will do like Sam Shields

I disagree that he'll go fairly unnoticed on draft day. As of today, I think he's a 3rd or 4th rounder. He actually even showed some skills in zone yesterday coming off of guys. He struggles with the ball in the air, but some team will hope to take his raw skills and do something with them. He tackles well, has a great frame, will test well in the combine.

3rd rounder, IMO. I'd take him in the 4th or early 5th if I were running an NFL team.

Been **** good all year. Will have more film then Shields but probably not quite the athlete, although very good in his own right.

2nd(if he kills the combine)-4th rounds sounds right.

kid has been Legit this year.

Mid rounder quality right now....after they see his sr film so far he could push up to the 3rd imo...just off um pedigree and a good combine.

Mcgee will likely measure in 5'11-6'0 190-195 and run a sub 4.4. ...oh ya this kid is definately a draft pick...what shocked me is how physical he is...he really is sticking people out there.

I'd say DVD is a better comparison than Shields. If Van Dyke can get drafted in the 3rd, there's no reason why McGee won't at least be drafted in the mid rounds. Has all the same physical tools as DVD. But unlike DVD he hasn't sucked on the football field. This season at least.

Really impressed by how he performed last night and all year, really. He went from not tackling anybody to getting off of blocks AND making the play.

Another great sign of this staff get the most out of its players. As mentioned ad nauseum on these boards, our players have looked great as freshmen and sophs, but most always regressed or never developed. Examples like this give hope that those days are over.

I confess, a few times this season, when McGee's number was called, I initially would think, 'they got him confused with . . ." and **** if they didn't have it right. I am so very glad. For HIM.

Funny to see this thread DP, because I was just reading this intereaction between #21 and Alonzo Highsmith:

@alonzohighsmith thats good news I just gotta remain consistant

I hope one day part of our fan base will stop calling for the heads of the kids underachieving. Unless they are being arrested or not working hard of course.

Some kids will give us only a senior year, but it will be worth it...

because a bulk of our fan base never attended the university of miami, they will not be so kind.

Actually Cane think back, Sam played well his last season with us, and the season before he was perhaps our best special teams player. For example, I remember him covering the crossing route at the end of the game in Tallahassee when we were backed up on our goal line. Last time we won up there.

i disagree.

Shields did nada here. mcGee did something

+1 He is a completely different player this year. Much more physical in run support and his coverage skills are at another level. His pick against KSU was incredible.

This should show any junior who is thinking of leaving early they would be a **** fool. Another year with Al is just another year of great training and programming to mind to consistently do good!

Also, did anyone else see the physical play of Howard? Love the environment the staff is putting in place!
