Maybe we lost DB recruits because of DL recruiting

Maybe Campbell, Surtain, Jobe, Samuels saw they’d be playing at a disadvantage the next few years. No pass rush, more than enough time for receivers to get free. Hard to shine under those circumstances.
DE outlook for ‘19 in particular looks desperate, especially if Joe Jackson leaves after ‘18.
If I’m a DB recruit, that’s definitely something I’d be looking at.
Georgia and Alabama are in better shape going forward on the DL, no?

The only DB recruit we lost was Josh Jobe.

The rest were kids who some people made projections onto and then felt slighted when their fantasy did not become reality.

The real reality is that we landed a handful of elite DB's. More than enough to win a national title when combined with other classes of similar quality.

We have a good DB haul not elite. Landing either PS2 or Campbell, you know guys who are ready to contribute, would have made it an elite haul. Only Hall could probably see the field right now. Blades has to refine his technique, Ivey has to get his speed/weight up, and Frierson doesn't have a specified position.

I think you are kidding yourselves if you think that not getting some of these guys isn’t, at least in part, a reflection of the condition of our defense as a whole — personnel, mostly.
That’s partly what a business decision is all about.
Elite kids are bought into our offense this year. Our defense not so much.
