I hadn’t read it posted in all the post-Mario hire analysis and hype, but how cool was it for Mario to reply to the reporter‘s spanish question in Spanish. Anyone read a translation? He did look at someone to say ‘that was hard’.

Especially after Sapp (?) joked awhile back how Miami hired the wrong Cuban, that Manny didn’t speak Spanish.

This. He struggled but hey he got through it
Better than most. Imagine: he’s been all over the country not needing any Spanish at all in places he’s been employed at like Bama and Oregon, but also traveling all over the country where cultures are so varying.

He prob only speaks Spanish to his mom if that, and even with such little practice he did considerably well. He survived and that’s all you can ask for lol

No doubt. He did very well with the impromptu question from Univision. Thought the exact same with his mom.

I listened to the presser on the iHeart radio up here in MN. I thought that was pretty cool of him. Could tell he was probably very fluent but struggling nonetheless and went ahead with it with some. Speaking Spanish doesn’t win National championships though. I haven’t seen Miami committed to football like this since $$ wise I became a fan.

On the flip side and just as a cultural observation, one could live his or her entire life in Miami speaking Spanish [with very little if any English] and be just fine.

I get the feeling that as a kid Mario watched reruns of The Three Stooges, not Chespirito.
