What a horrible, horrible ripoff of message board material. Worse yet, ya picked the wrong analysis.

I see Manny's been reading the board again.

as I was reading it all I thought was someone might look at it and say 'wow, he really spent some time on this column'...but just the same as some 8th grader can write a 10 page paper on the civil war using wikipedia, that fat slob came on here, copy/pasted and went back to scarfing down slim jims and playing WoW.

Look, the bottom line is that he wrote all those words and didn't answer the base question:

How does our talent compare to teams who have performed well against our opponents?

We have multiple problems. A long piece supported by random internet analysts is about as credible as one of our discussions here. Maybe less so, because there isn't anything other than an overview of old material. My issue with it is that he has an opportunity to really dig and clarify for the fans, and instead takes this alternative.

Watch every snap of the VT-Maryland game. Regardless of what the final score of this game is (VT should figure out they can just run the ball to a W), at NO POINT in our game did our talent "look" as good as Maryland's talent "looks."

I guess that means Maryland's injury-riddled squad = more talent than UM.

Lets also add the whole article is talking about not having the talent to be a contender. He repeatedly talked about miami "being back". None of the people that are criticizing our defense are complaining that the defense is the reason we are not back. Most here were smart enough to realize we were not true contenders this year (even if some got a little too overexcited by us being undefeated). Most are not saying we are some elite defense that should be shutting down an FSU. What people are pointing out is we are over conservative, and that our talent should be good enough to handle a bad offense. If our talent is not good enough to handle a bad offense, and the scheme is not the problem, then the issue would be player development or poor player evaluation. I find it hard to believe that with top classes every year, that all of our players are going to be busts.
