IIRC, Rosier was on record saying that if Miami offered him, it would be really tough not to commit on the spot. That his Pops wanted him to take his time with the process but Rosier recanted it would be really hard not to pull the trigger. (Not a quote, just my recollection) My how the tides change in the game of Recruiting. Check out what he has to say below.
Faith Academy quarterback Malik Rosier has been a busy guy this week.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Rosier, a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com and 247Sports, started his week on Sunday at Miami, one of his seven offers and currently his favorite. He threw about 250 balls and met with head coach Al Golden and some of the Hurricanes' players.
"I really liked it," he said. "It's a really nice setting, and they're still growing."
Rosier added that the commitments of four-star offensive linemen KC McDermott, Reilly Gibbons and Trevor Darling add to Miami's attractiveness. Although the Hurricanes also have commitments from two quarterbacks in the 2014 class, he's been told there's a spot for him.
"Coach Golden told me if I come to Miami, I could play quarterback and I could also play baseball," said Rosier, also a standout baseball player at Faith.
Rosier then went to Alabama, where he threw for Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier despite suffering from a sore shoulder after the Miami workout.
"My arm wasn't 100 percent but I didn't do bad at all," he said. "At the end of the camp, I got to talk to Coach Saban a little and he said I threw the ball well."
Rosier said Nussmeier told him it'd be mid-June before Alabama would decide whether to extend an offer.
He finished up his week at Ole Miss, where he earned praise from Rebels co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Dan Werner. "Coach Werner really likes me a lot," Rosier said. "Because we run the same, exact offense (at Faith), he knows I'll fit the offense really well."
But Rosier said Werner also told him that since the Rebels signed two quarterbacks in the 2013 class, they'll take no more than one in 2014 -- and perhaps none.
Rosier, a dual-threat signal-caller who threw for 2,238 yards and 20 touchdowns and ran for 1,002 yards and 12 more scores in 2012, said none of the coaches he met with this week asked him to work out at a position other than quarterback.
"I'm kind of set on playing quarterback," he said.
While Rosier said Miami is his leader with Southern Miss second, he added that an offer from Alabama "would throw off everything. I think they'd probably lead."
Rosier added that he has not heard from the state's other SEC program, Auburn, since spring practice -- a disconnect he believes may be resulting from the fact that the Tigers' southwest Alabama recruiter, Dameyune Craig, is not handling his recruitment. Offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee is Auburn's lead recruiter for Rosier.
Rosier's busy schedule won't let up next week, as he plans to attend a team camp in Troy, visit Vanderbilt and work out at Mississippi State, before returning to Mobile for the QB Country Battle of the Bay skills competition on Friday. He then plans to visit Southern Miss next Saturday.
Aside from Miami and Southern Miss, Rosier also has offers from Arkansas State, Northern Illinois, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State and Furman.
