I'm not familiar really with medical redshirt rules and stuff...my question is if Malcolm Lewis had a groin injury that required surgery, why not redshirt him again last year? Since he was redshirted the year before was he not eligible for another one? I know WR depth was a big issue last year with rashawn and dorsett going down...but Malcolm was clearly not healthy when he was out there, and basically was completely ineffective. It's not like he got meaningful minutes. Look forward to seeing what he can do the next few years and hopefully he starts tearing it up

Last I saw, he never received his redshirt. So after his senior season he can apply for it, and he'll no doubt get it.

I think medical redshirts have to be applied for after his senior year.

This.

If a player plays in even one game his redshirt is blown.

However, he can apply for another year of eligibility after his senior year.

sorry this is all new to me so im trying to understand....

so after his senior year he'll apply for another year of eligibility based on missing the freshmen season with the ankle, and he'll definitely get that. so basically there was no point to sitting him out last season because he would have had no chance at a second extra year if he had surgery on the groin and missed the rest of the year?

thanks in advance...
