I have always respected your football IQ and obviously making C. Rettig look like Joe Montana we need to fix some things, where would you start, and do you think we can right the ship?

Did you see his stats last year? He was painfully average.

1,900
12 TDs
9 INTs

their oc was golden yesterday.......

he shot his wad...and made coach d look like an a$$clown most of the game

Playing 9 million freshmen had nothing to do with it, right? You want to "fix" it -- get and develop a couple of Warren Sapps, Cortez Kennedys and Jerome Browns.

Seriously though, a bad pass rush makes everything else look bad defensively.

I'd like to say bring more pressure, but first we need to get everyone on the same page.. if we bring more pressure and still have guys that have no clue what they're doing in zone it's going to get even worse..

The first thing to fix the defense is knowing your god**** assignments in zone. There shouldn't be guys running wide open every freakin play.

We need to blitz more often and mix in a little more man to man.

I'm not a believer in excessive man to man...but after rewatching the game last night we spent a vast majority of the game in soft cover 2 and 3. Mix it up a little more to keep the opposing QB guessing.

But make no mistake....there is no defensive scheme on the planet earth that can mask some of the deficiences we are currently carrying. What I suggested above is the equivalent of plugging a hole in a leaking dam. With the current depth chart we have at D-Line you're going to be forced to artificially create pressure via the blitz, which leads to more openings in the secondary.

No scheme in the world is going to help with our biggest issue on defense. We just have too many inexperienced players playing. 95% of the 1st & 2nd team defense are first or 2nd year players. BC had a **** offense last year but their OLines is always very good. You cant throw out the McCords and Hamiltons against BC's juniors and seniors. D'nofrio can't help guys shed blocks.

The defense is about three players away- too bad its Tez Kennedy, Danny Stubbs and Philip Buchanon...

Just my .02 cents but what's obvious to me is we have no presence on the DL, a guy offenses have to account for, like a Clowney, Mingo, or the duo in Trailerhassee. If we can't develop that, I don't know how much more we can do. It'd be nice if Coach D could come up with better, more creative blitz schemes. Stevie Wonder could see some of our's coming. Not ready to throw in the towel on the DL yet, but yesterday was not a good day at the office.

And if anybody still thinks I'm crazy for questioning Franklin's coaching aptitude, yesterday's effort goes a long way in confirming my fears about this guy. JMO, but I think he's a pure hack as a coach.

The offense had no problem playing 9 million freshmen. Coaching does matter.
did we learn anythign from Coker/Shannon regime.

The Virginia 2007 game (last game in OB) should have been all we needed to know about Shannon.

Our only hope is that Golden never leaves a stone unturned and seemingly fixes A LOT of issues. Defensive scheme, imo, is the only issue I got moving forward in the Golden era.
