I don’t think he was under the radar at all. Now I’m not a South Florida recruiting guru but I’m pretty sure he was wrong regarding down here.

To me it was a head scratcher why we didn’t pursue him harder. Maybe he didn’t want to come or maybe Richt and Manny had reasons for not wanting him here.

I think when Rick and Manny were here, they had this notion that it was gonna be easier to recruit being in South Florida and Recruiter, Florida, while not living here.
It’s a mistake that a lot of staffs have done.
They think they can just walk to any high school down here and pick whoever they want just because they have that U on their chest.

From the outside looking in it appears that there have been a lot of coaches that come here and think it’s going to be easy to get the hometown kid because now they’re coaching at the home town school.
They were wrong.

Joyner was a DE and he probably isn't good with his hand in the dirt as well. Evals were atrocious stealing from another bad eval school in fsu

Yeah I remember a bunch of us banging on the table for him & the kid from pitt.

Our staff overthought it. Kid would have been solid here, too. He had an elite track background and in HS, he was not quite 200. For many of us, he was a no brainer take knowing that he’d need a couple years of S&C.

I don’t really follow recruiting as closely anymore, but this is one I just thought was obvious.



I’ve had a lot of bad takes, too, to be fair. What I don’t understand is passing on guys whose speed is obvious and make plays against top players/teams.
