In the mix of the news of Alex Collins decommitting, Lorenzo Woodley will be speaking with Coach Paul Williams tonight. The staff has requested to speak with him today after school. I'm not insinuating anything here just passing along news.

Hmm. I made mention of Turman saying we were on him too. We are definitely looking for a power-type back in this class, possibly even if we get Collins too.

If we go after this kid instead of Chestnut, my faith in the staff's evaluations will take a him.

Power back or not, Chestnut is the better runner and IMO it's not close.

Yeah just not a fan of Woodley either. Not jumping to conclusions yet though.

Just my opinion, but Woodley is a Big East level running back. Not saying he sucks or anything, but he is a notch below guys like Collins and Folston.

Chestnut is the better and more productive back now but Woodley will be better in college imo. Once Woodley is coached to run with more power he can be a good power back because he's big, strong and has good feet. Chestnut lacks the burst and wiggle that I look for in smaller backs. He takes really short strides and doesn't explode out of his cuts.

With that being said, I prefer Turman and Folston.
Is he Mike James's style?

Pass, not a fan. He's not even starting in HS. His style won't translate well to college.

They have a similar build but Woodley has a bigger/longer frame. Woodley projects as more of a straight-ahead inside runner while James is a do-it-all back that can cut laterally or run through tacklers. Woodley would be a good complement to the big-play backs that we have on the roster and are recruiting for future classes. He has the potential to be the kind of back that can wear down a defense and open up the rest of the offense for other skill players.

I'm with D$ on this one big time. He just doesn't have the mentality to play as a power back. He hits the hole way too tentatively and doesn't have much burst

I think Turman is more Mike James than Woodley if that's what we are looking for

Agreed.

Do you think he will ever have the mentality to be a power back?

It's tough to change somebody's mentality IMO. I've seen him play for 4 years now and I just don't see it.

Agree, Chestnut is better than Woodley. Woodley is not even as good as Radcliffe who went to Louisville.

That being said. Neither Chestnut or Woodley are even on the same planet as Alex Collins. Not even close. I hope this staff turns to some other options than these guys.
