Other than Auburn in 2004... was to us in 2000.

I knew Washington was good, but I didn't realize they finished #3 and 11-1 overal.

Good lord how did we not play OU in title? We lost to that Washington team, on the road, by 5 points.
We finished #2 in AP & coaches.
FSU sole loss was to us.

BCS Comp polls F'ed us. One poll had us #8 lolol

F BCS and Refs. We should have 7 titles (serious)

No....

I think it was because someone(Can't Remember) backed out of our season opener and we were forced to schedule Division-1AA McNeese State to take their spot.....

Was it Texas A&M?

Anybody remember?

This is why. We didn't drop in AP or coaches. But we dropped pretty bad in computer polls after this win (which of course they did away comp polls SOS a few years later)
How convienent.

F CFB, seriously. Can we get back to owning it?

Well, Washington also had 1 loss that year. Why shouldn't they play for a national title?

System is flawed. Hard to really be a fan of college football. They say a playoff system will make the season too long but teams still have two unnecessary games against low tier team every year.

I mean, if the NFL had the same system, the Giants would never have won the Super Bowl last year.

No matter how you slice it, FSU should not have been there. I can understand the argument for Washington over us, but definitely not FSU.

Uh, you guys are forgetting the human manipulation. Voters were intentionally putting FSU #1 after we beat them, knowing OU would be #1 in the final computation anyway, to get the Nol;es back to #2.

Don't forget the four TD drives Washington had that were a result of a phantom flag on every play of the series. Twice, they scored TDs after punting, when the refs threw bogus flags on us which gave them first down yardage.

A 4 team playoff since its inception would've avoided both of these travesties from happening! 2000-OU, Fla st. Miami and Wash'ton........2004-OU,USC, Auburn and Utah. Let Miami play OU in one semi. Miami/ Fla st re-match for all the marbles?

We were the best team in CFB that year, IMHO. Should have been in they game and would have beat Stoops and the Sooners asses in. I consider his only NC fraudulent.

Agreed. We had a great team and were really playing well.

If I remember correctly scoring margin was a part of the formula and FSU was running up the score on everyone late in the year and eventually passed us. Then they completely lay an egg in the National Championship Game.
