How much of the lack of development at UM is attributed to lack of competition and challenge for our upper echelon players/recruits. You see KC McDermott battling back and forth with Hand and these studs at UA,and you can see that it is going to elevate his level of play with each rep..He has to adjust

Makes you wonder how much a Seantrel henderson was hindered by going against Chickillo/Green etc.. for 2 years and then playing against top notch guys on Saturdays.. Offensive line may be the worst example, what about our receivers, and our safeties never being challenged by QB who throws to the middle of the field.

Miami used to be the opposite, your battles in practice were harder than the game. This is a major issue in player development

that is why in the good ole past...our offenses were so good they had to face our bad *** d every day..

but I am not sure how much real tackling and hitting even goes on anymore...

Competition is nice. But who were Duke Tackles competition against that made them so much better than our Tackles?

This is why mediocre becomes a vicious cycle. You need to bring in top talent hit on bunch of Guys that's have it. Then it starts to breed itself.

The lack of development probably has to do with:

- a grades/class first mentality that DOESNT EXIST at powerhouse programs
- an S and C program that is not even up to elite HS standards
- a non existent nutrition program that is still grossly sub par
- staffs filled with recruiters and first time coaches
- zero tolerance behavior and drug policies which kick out the goons but also curb PED use

People need to realize what it really takes to win, and if they are ok with that. I am, but I'm a nutjob.
