Line Movement Question

The swing from 14 to 8.5 over the week was an acute indicator as I've never seen such a massive line swing without the aide of big time player injuries. I'm hoping some of the gurus can explain this to me in laymen's terms as I have trouble believing the algorithms and professional bettors control this.

To me, it felt as though someone got a hold of insider information and / or there is point shaving going on.

I thought it was free money the moment it opened and one of the most obviously-off lines of the season. Always was a single-score type game to me with our weakness on defense
