Let’s talk Defense vs. Syracuse

Luckily we aren't Uconn, our D line should feast in this game, blitz heavy and early force McCord to make quick decisions, Cam go off and put the nail in the coffin early.

I said the same thing about the Georgia Tech game LMAO, we always seem to play down to our competition and its infuriating.

Please hang 40+ on these orange clowns

Could be nine without that McCord full retart game against Pitt. Hopefully he gives us like five INTs
After 2 decades of disappointment I need the boys to come out and dominate and get to that ACC championship...it's been a long time coming. If not this year with the #1 offense then when...

They’re the opposite of tech. They don’t really run. This is better for our dline. Boston college seemed to get a lot of pressure on McCord. We should be ok up front

You know what’s weird? When you look at Syracuse‘s stats and the fact that their quarterback has more passing yards than ours, you would think they’ve scored a ton. However, they’ve only hit the 40 point threshold twice. Once against Holy Cross for 42 and then once against UNLV for 44. I haven’t watched a minute of Syracuse but it sounds like we have to pray our defense is bend but don’t break.
Not a comprehensive study but a few stats as to maybe why they have not scored as much as we have.

They avr about 100 fewer yds / game
They have missed 8 FG . We have missed 1. This may also explain why they go for it on 4th down more than the norm
They throw 17 incompletions per game while we throw 12 / game. Plays where you get zero yards add up and stress the offense.
They have needed a 108 more pass attempts to gain the same yardage as we have.Completion % is good not great and yds/pass is barely above average. Not as explosive.
Run Game is below average.
They have punted 11 more times than we have.
Their turnover margin is 6 more than ours.

Ya, a 4-3 is a nightmare against pass-happy teams running mostly 10 personnel.

I’d love to see us play a 3-3, but I understand we may not have the personnel to handle it.

At the end of the day, line up in whatever will prevent the most mental **** ups.
I'd rather stay with the 4 man front, two linebacker and Brown as the Nickle. They aren't much of a running team so hopefully we can get good pressure on McCord with a 4 man rush.

They have LeQuint Allen, whom has nearly 900 yards rushing with 12 rushing TDs.

Their slot guy, Peña, left last game hurt so who knows the extent of that injury. Of course, Gadsen at TE/WR.

They are going to be a ******* problem thanks to our bad defense.

I will start drinking early Saturday, like 8am so hopefully I fall asleep just before game time and save myself the agony on my already fragile heart.
I’m not sold on their run game. That dude has close to 900 but that’s it’s for the team. I think they are right at 1000 yards on the season. Definitely a pass to set up the run offense. Getting pressure with 4-5 on McCord is key

We need Bain to perform as he did last year (not this year) to solidify the front .
If he’s not finished healing I’d prefer another man chomping at the bit .

This whole conversation seems to leave Bain out ?
We all know he isn’t right and hasn’t been almost like LT was his last year.

Watched the BC Cuse condensed game a bit....BC ran all over them, huge holes were opened up by their line. BC was running at 10-15+ yard clips. BC was also able to get a good amount of pressure on McCord. I think we will be able to do the same in both regards, OL and DL.

I actually feel better about this game than I had prior to watching this replay. Go Canes.
