There is a strong emphasis on this board on players with nfl draft caliber measurables and a seeming preference for raw unfinished products who can develop into early round picks. Guys like Michael Jackson who didn’t see the field for two seasons but developed into a player and was drafted. We may need true freshman LBs on the field playing on a team with a lot of potential next season.

Corey Flagg has been criticized as limited athletically and possibly being close to a finished product after playing big time tx football. Not sure how their style compares but it reminds me of Skai Moore during recruitment. Skai did not have the nfl measurables that fat Al wanted and ended up not being drafted. But he was on the sec all freshman team.

With our depth at LB we need Skai Moore play now type players, who maybe don’t project to the nfl. Does anyone else believe this is a conscious recruiting strategy by the staff?

@DMoney on newest Podcast said Diaz loves tough LBs, he doesn’t want to have to question toughness. So some of these 4 or 5 star premadonas that we aren’t sure about Manny doesn’t want than.

Until Mannys D is being hindered by the LB core I’m not even going to question who he brings in

Agreed, but we’ve only had the 3 Seniors at LB since his arrival so who we get in the 2020 class will determine how the position is viewed for coming seasons.

I'm getting the Glenn Cook vibes with Flagg. I hope not, as a Shannon was in love with a poor measuring, mediocre football player for mysterious reasons to this day.

This isn’t a staff of elite salesmen on the trail. People on this board have defended that by saying, “I’d rather have elite technicians than recruiters.”

Fine. But then this staff better be bringing in high ceiling kids. “We’re going to take our great teachers and bring in kids of limited physical ability but at least they don’t need much teaching” is idiotic.

What is the point of having these great developers if they are bringing in kids that can’t be developed much because of their limited physical ability, and don’t need much developing because they are already a finished product out of high school?

Cave and Mathis are exactly that... high ceiling players

AJ Mathis is more like Skai Moore when speaking of comparisons. Skai wasnt nearly as limited athletically as Flagg.
Flagg fits in with the current group they are bringing in....if they land 1 more big target (Hyppolite,Flowe) where as Flagg has a lot of experience in the middle and is cerebral. I actually think Flagg will be a good player for us...of the commits Mathis is the 1 i would like to see sr film on more so than Flagg. Im gonna sell Rub on Um every **** time i see him lol. Did so this week

I understand wat you are saying, but almost everybody we sign for this class has a high ceiling with good to great physical abilities. People are literally complaining about the 1 guy, flagg, and acting like all the other recruits in this class lack the athletic ability, but that is not true. I would say about 3-4 of our current committed recruits lack that high ceiling athletic ability u want, but that's alright.

I think these style linebackers we are recruiting/recruited is the same attack style line backers the NFL is after. I like our backers

I love measureables. 40 times vertical and all that.
But certain positions like mlb and safety I’d rather have a smart player. I bet there are safeties all over cfb with better measureables than Jaquan. But which would you rather have. Same with Shaq.
I think we have a good mix of guys coming in.
Joyner Huff and Brooks are also gonna be real good.

Seal the deal. Kid is gonna be a monster in this system. How receptive did he seem to ur recruiting pitch

Flagg is a low ceiling guy, the other takes are very high ceiling. So far, I like the LB takes, we are not getting Flowe and Hyppolite would be a good consolation price while Mathis will be a freak specially in this system. I also think Huff and Brooks will surprise most here, they will shine in this system.

I get that we have 3 Sr. LBs + Romeo Finley who is also a Sr, but some of y'all get so caught up in recruiting that you forget who's on the roster.
The 2020 starting LBs are gonna be some combination of: Patrick Joyner (Jr.), Avery Huff (So.), Sam Brooks (So.) and Frierson (Jr.) at striker. Then you'll have Bradley Jennings and Waynmon Steed working their way back from injury and part of the rotation.
So the 2020 LB recruits will probably only end up playing in spot duty and ST unless someone steps up and earns more PT. The LB depth isn't as bad as some are making it out to be.
