The numbers are there at LB but with so many unproven players this position will be a huge question mark. Not having Terry, Paul, and Johnson will hurt early. Fall camp will be extremely important to develop depth, with so many unproven players being counted on. I think this team is one more good recruiting class away from finally having the talent we are used to seeing at Miami. As long as no more guys are kicked off the team or no one leaves early, 2014 could finally be the year we don't see a true freshman in the game.

Numbers (This is in order by class not what I think the depth chart will be)
SAM
1. JR Devante Bond
2. SO Tyriq McCord
3. FR Alex Fiqueroa

MLB
1. SR James Gaines
2. SO Rahael Kirby
3. RFR JaWand Blue

WILL
1. SR. Tyrone Cornileus
2. JR Denzel Perryman
3. JR Thurston Armbrister
4. FR Jermaine Grace

We only lose 2 guys from this position to graduation. I think the staff needs to bring in at least 4 LB's in this class.

On the surface, it would seem like we're in a pickle at the SAM. But Bond has two years at the juco level under his belt, McCord was on the field a bunch in 2012 and likely won't be asked to do much of anything different, and Figueroa has had a year of prep and a spring. I like the battle between Gaines and Kirby. Hoping that Grace can push Denzel come August.

Really looking forward to seeing what Blue brings to the table. He took advantage of his redshirt year to put on some good weight and skillset.

I expect Blue to be the 3rd string mike linebacker. There.

Now that we apparently have moved McCord to LB and the Pa guy to TE how about doing the same depth analysis for DE. Seems thin

Blue is a mystery, under-the-radar guy. What are thoughts or expectations?

Tough to say, he is still a freshman. I expect him to be on special teams this year and get some burn as a back up. I don't think he will get serious burn till next year.

I was excited to get this kid from VT because I felt he would go there and we would constantly here his name for 4 years.

The numbers at DE are fine:

Green
Dye
Cain
Perry
Chickillo
Grimble
Williams
Kamalu
Hamilton
Hoilett
Muhammad

Don't really see Bond or McCord as 3 down LBers in a 4-3 but maybe that's just me.

To start the year I think Perryman, Gaines, Kirby, Figs will see the bulk of the snaps (excluding pass rushing situations) with Armbrister, Cornelius, Grace pushing (Blue is a total unknown to me). We can't afford injuries at LBer
