Naturally, the best player from the famed 2009 Northwestern Class went to Nebraska: Lavonte David. He was considered a nobody out of high school, but he was one of the top OLB prospects out of JC. Bill Barnwell had this to say of him:
"Now that that’s out of the way, David is quite possibly the best run-stopping linebacker in the league. Stopping isn’t even the right word. He extinguishes the running game. David seems to live in the opposing backfield at times, knifing past opposing blockers like they’re inanimate cones."
That's the recruiting game for you, 0 stars in high school, to 4 stars in JC, to top pro.
