Swansea has no idea what he's even talking about and sounds like he is just repeating **** he has heard Golden say

He's acting like 40-10 or whatever it's called was his idea.

And I'm a major Swasey supporter.

Truth is, he is the most under qualified S&C coach at any major BCS university. There are trainers at LAfitness more qualified. He's the Gym Teacher in high school that thinks he's a football coach. Very sad. Does he even lift? I mean really he looks like an average looking dude.

It's easy to give him glory for DJ Williams, Sean Taylor, Willis Mcgahee, Wilfork, Andre Johnson...etc. these guys were freaks before they stepped foot on campus

Boys looked Jack..
Kudos to Golden for reviving Swasey's career.

has it ever been discussed that maybe swasey isn't as bad as some expected? maybe it was the players we were bringing on campus that were too lazy and not driven to get bigger? maybe a lot to do with randy, what he wanted out of swasey and the direction he steered him in? i find it hard to believe that swasey was here during glory years, produced monsters, numerous alumni speak highly of him and come back to workout with him and is getting current players bigger and that he just flat out sucked for a few years. there was a 5-6 year stretch where we just brought too many of the wrong players in and swasey was the scapegoat.

Might be some of both. There should have been a nutrition program in place years ago. Was there one under Davis even? Coker and Shannon didn't seem to emphasize how important work in the weight room was to getting playing time. Golden does. The first thing out of his mouth after the seniors left the room after the first season: "We are not a strong team, and that's going to change." It would have been hard for Swasey to get anything done, even if he was the best S&C coach in the world, if there was no support from the head coach. I think Swasey probably knows what to do, but he doesn't have a strong enough personality to push kids, who need the push, without the threat of repercussions from the head coach.

I remember Swasey saying he had dust off the old routines from back in the day when Golden got here. Clearly hard work was lost with Larry and Randy. It seems to be back now. Kids are buying in and results are showing, in the gym. Still want to see it on the field but that take longer. Good against metal is one thing, good against bone and muscle is different. Swasey was here with Butch. If he was not what Golden wanted, he would be gone. Remember the deer done here are very small and few, Bama has bigger and more antlers available. Not to mention complete protection from all enforcement.

The problem I have with swasey is that he's not a strength coach. He's a speed coach who also coaches aspects of strength routines. So, he will never be revolutionary when it comes to that. We will always be adjusting to what other schools are doing.

Its a nice video, but we need to real strength coach. Golden has empowered swasey, but if we ever want to be ahead of the curve, we 'all need to bring in new blood. I think firing swasey will really upset alumni, so making his job 'easier' is another option

Well we will definitely need the speed if the strength part don't pan out too well. Man, I just had a flash back of Romeo Davis trying to tackle someone by grabbing a piece of equipment on the back of the running back...
