Showcasing two of our most hated opponents slug it out in our house was a perfect example on why we’ve sucked for so long.

The U became a place where you went to in order to get to the league.
It’s a common theme on top teams and it eventually leads to their demise.

Since then we’ve had a long run of talented players that come to Miami because they want nfl money and not because they want a brotherhood. Not because they’re willing do whatever it takes to win a championship.

As I’ve stated before. I suck at talent evaluation.
But there is no way your will convince me that besides a few db’s we didn’t have a more talented team than the two that played last night.

What we did see was a perfect display of all the cliches that everyone laughs about and the things that no head coach has been able to instill since Butch da gaawwwd left.

I saw well prepared and disciplined teams that PLAYED TOGETHER AS A UNIT ON ALL FACETS OF THE GAME!!

Can’t remember the name of that player that transferred from Vtech. He was asked in an interview on why vtech is so successful despite not having highly ranked recruits. His answer was “there isn’t much to do except football and the players are always hanging out together”.

If you attend our games it’s obvious to see that this team has not liked each other over the past 20 years with exception of the offense last year.

You see it in the lack of discipline. You see it when dudes that are out of position. You see it for at least 10 years on defense when dudes don’t communicate at all!!

This also happens in the nfl. You hear them talk about it. When teams like the ravens with Reed talk. When they interview the niners, the Bills, etc when they go on a few years of dominance.
You even see it in a team like Georgia tech when they beat us with a simple offensive scheme.

We’ve had a team full of individuals and the transfer portal with the money and the women and lifestyle here in Miami will make it even more difficult.
I’m not saying it can’t happen. But it’s obvious to see that as many have said “talent is not the reason why Miami can’t win”
I’ll even go as far as saying that coaching isn’t the reason why Miami hasn’t won its conference. It’s not playing basic football and caring more about not letting your teammates down more than you care about your own stat line. It’s not caring more about the score at the end of the game than your own highlights. It’s taking into consideration the time that the staff is taking away from their family to teach you how to win and be better.
It’s knowing that there will be games when you will be irrelevant to the fans and the media watching, but being in the right position may be denying your opponent to do what they can to win. Sometimes you don’t even have to make a tackle or catch a ball to be effective.

INDIVIDUALS PLAY THE GAME BUT TEAMS BEAT THE ODDS.

UNTIL WE GET A COMBINED 105 PLAYERS THAT SAY I AM HERE FOR MY BROTHERS WE WILL NEVER BE GREAT AGAIN.

That’s why those two teams are there last night.
That’s the reason why we haven’t won the acc despite out recruiting the basketball schools by a mile.
This is the reason why nobody is afraid of a team with 3 elite recruiting classes and top portal players. This is the reason why an 80 million dollar coach doesn’t make anybody lose an ounce of sleep.

but getting a half-competent DC would also do the trick
I’m done blaming coaches.
How many examples of Dc’s, oc’s, hc’s, position coaches, sc staff, that have had success at other places but manage to fail here do we need.
What poison pill did we drink that we manage to hire the wrong guy at every position group everywhere year for 20 years but everybody else doesn’t? Blaming the coach is an excuse because we hype up every damm recruit as a day one starter and turn around and blame rumph? Come on man.

I’ll take Dno off the list. He definitely scked asz juice.

How many more elite recruits do we need to get only to lose to a g5 squad.
Mark richt almost lost to the **** chipmunks with shark fckr as head coach. Mario lost to mtsu!!! We lost to fiu!!!!

in medicine we have a funny saying “when all else fails examine the patient”
We say that because we have all these advanced studies labs and imaging that people demand and sometimes a simple exam will give you the best and likely answer.

Well, we’ve had money, recruiting, facilities, analytics, advisors, motivational speakers, psychologist, gps monitors, nutrition, etc etc.

And nothing has made us beat lesser competition. Well it’s time to examine the patient.
And the patient has been on social media posting a highlight after a loss. At gas stations, on brickel rooftop parties, etc etc.

The only film junky we’ve had here is on the rams and has 4 interceptions and getting awards despite being 5’10 and running g a 4.6 forty.

We’ve had a bunch of sick individuals. Idgaf what they report from green tree. Tape don’t lie. And tape says you don’t communicate on the filed on the sidelines and you’re fckng out of position and taking plays off.
Mark pope was so ill he couldn’t catch a cold or a pass. And talent was definitely not his problem.
Mike Harley got some
Medicine but he was 2 years sick and laughing at x for being a try hard. Too bad that he didn’t know that X had found the cure.

Exactly.

Valid points, but it's been a lack of continuity for Miamii while both those programs have been pillars of stability.

James Franklin just wrapped his 11th year in Happy Valley, while Brian Kelly did 12 years in South Bend before taking the LSU job and handing the keys over to his one-year defensive coordinator who the team absolutely loved, with Marcus Freeman turning out to be the perfect fit guy for a program that had been run smoothly for well over a decade.

Mario Cristobal as Miami's third head coach in five years when he took over in 2022; the Canes sixth head coach in 17 seasons.

Think back to the Kyle Wright era of this program and Miami taking a 5-Star can't miss kid and saddling him with two head coaches and four different offensive coorinators—Chud, Werner, Olson/Berry and Nix—over his five seasons at UM.

Winning cures all and Miami simply needs to find a way to win.

No, this program won't soon ever be like State College, South Bend, Blacksburg or any of these other one-horse towns mentioned—but when the getting is good, few cities show-out and vibe like Miami does when it has a winner.

Look at how those Heat teams gel and play off each other when Miami is winning big—and look what a disaster the franchise looks like right now as it's losing and it's star player is disgruntled.

Same or Canes basketball, which had a long-time coach in Jim Larranaga for over a decade, built a culture and has some real camaraderie during those Sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final Four runs.

Miami will never look or feel like other traditional programs, but the Canes were legit one defense defensive coordinator and a few stops from winning the ACC and showing out in the CFP with the offense it just fielded this year.

Clean up the defensive mess, land a solid teacher-coordinator, haul in Carson Beck for some offensive consistency and run it back in 2025 ... but also realize Notre Dame and Penn State are what they are due to being a model of consistency, while Miami has legit been a revolving door of coaches dating all the way back to the Larry Coker era and his offensive assistants.

your looking at a few teams while ignoring a bunch of other examples of teams who win. How long was the old man at unc when he went bone dry on us for 778 yards of total offense on a coach who’s specialty was defense.
Rhett fckng lashlee was at the acc championship game. He just got there.

When you watch these teams, what stick out is prepared and sound defenses. Players make plays but the defense is not broken at the snap, with fire drill of running around every snap
When I watched I didn’t see anyone wearing orange and green.
And the reason sure af wasn’t talent.
So go ahead and blame the dudes not wearing pads all you want. Cause we’ve been blaming them since 2003.

I haven’t served since 1994. But I still have contacts with the sons and daughters of my buddies who I served with that are currently serving and former buddies that were in during the GWOT.
If you for one minute think that success of the us military is due to exceptional leadership on every level and in every unit then I’ll sell you my undervalued home for 5 million. I guarantee you it’s a bargain.

Those young 18-22 year old fighting men are their for their brothers. Establish that mentality and we play in the orange bowl next year. It’s really that simple and also that hard at the same time. I did not see overwhelming talent above ours all over the field last night with exception of that dude at tight end. He’s not human. And if he’s better than Arroyo it’s not by much.

I was at the game last night. I absolutely want to puke to say it, but man - it really feels like Miami is miles away from where those squads are.

The defense was so, so sound. The line play was great. Both teams tackled well. Both teams had eye popping athletes that really jump out at you. The energy and enthusiasm on both sidelines was really something, and the teams just seemed to care about each other.

I went to every home game for the Canes this season and I didn’t see anything close to that. And really haven’t since 2017.

No offense, but really? You think they're engaged and together as they play for a chance to play for the title?

That same film junkie was met with good riddance by a lot on here based on his play last year, He is obviously excelling first year in the NFL but was lambasted here for blowing coverages taking & too many risks, why do you think that is?

The issue is complete lack of accountability from the Top down.

Coaches here get ideas in their head about how they want to win and they lose the plot.

It comes down to "I want to win MY way" (golden keeping D'Onofrio, Richt calling plays, Manny taking over DC) against, "I want to win NO MATTER WHAT (Saban shifting to a pass attack)

Look at Ryan Day this year. You think he wasn't majorly/seriously threatened to correct the ship after losing to 6-6 Michigan? Now he's got a shoe-in natty.

We need an administration that keeps the coaches in line.

Its called Chain of Command. Works in the military. Would work here.

So ND has reached the title game with a good defense, running game and next to zero passing.

One could argue that Michigan won the title last year with a similar formula and of course better passing.

What is the point? That the most recent examples of success in college football are defense and running. If ND can win with Riley Leonard, certainly UM can win with a Beck level QB. We don’t need the #1 overall pick to be successful if we are sound and well coached in the other aspects of the game.
This. Defenses were solid, and both OL's were very big and very well coached. And we need backs like Singleton and Love - those guys were beasts last night - huge motor guys.

AND the ENTIRE team needs to buy in. Not one half.... It seems like every season one-half of the game is disfunctional or has issues within

Who is the defensive player (players) who will step up next season and be the leader(s)?

Will Beck or whoever the QB is be able to earn the respect of the team the way Cam did? Who else will step up? It's really an important part of what makes those teams successful.

I fully expect this to be the quote seen all over for the next few weeks:

From Marcus Freeman in his halftime speech:

Mario still hasn't fixed the special teams factor which has hurt us. This along with the defense has to be a priority. Why special teams continues to not be given much attention is mind boggling.
