2014 WR Ermon Lane (Homestead) has already been considered as the top receiver in the nation for his class, and tonight was just another reminder why. While his Broncos fell to Miami Northwestern 35-18, it wasn't without a stellar performance by him. Despite facing double teams all night long and playing nearly every snap of the game, it was apparent he was the best player on the field by far. He had three catches of 25-yards or more, along with a 20-yard rush, and an interception (while covering Artie Burns) with a 40-yard return.

"I did alright. I was expecting Artie to cover me and I was surprised he didn't. He's a good and physical DB."

With the win, Northwestern forced a three-way tie between themselves, Carol City, and Homestead for the second playoff spot in the district behind Central. The tie-breaker will be held on Monday at Traz Powell between the three teams.

"We're just gonna have to come out and work extra hard this week. We came out and made to many mistakes tonight. We underestimated them and they came harder than us."

While Lane insists that no school is sticking out in particular for him at the moment, he talked about three of his top choices.

Miami: "They're a good school and their program is starting to build. I like how they're playing the young players and their feeding everybody the ball."

Alabama: "It's not too much to say about them, because they're the number one team in the country."

Florida State: "They've been doing pretty good this year."

One of the possible factors for Lane in his decision is that he is related to Miami Linebackers coach, Michael Barrow.

"I have a great relationship with Barrow. He tells me a majority of the same things that other colleges are telling me. Just to stay focused and go hard."

Lane says that he has no timetable for his decision.

This kid is on another level. He's the first real #1 Miami would have in years. Day 1 player.

Worried about Bama if he wants to get away for college but seems like a Cane unless we **** it up

Duke Johnson and Matthew Thomas disagree with you. But there's no doubt we need Lane on this team. We cannot let talent like him leave So FL anymore.
