Of all the concerns Miami fans had going into Saturday, the biggest concern was the secondary against the Gator passing game. The Canes won that battle. Coach Lance Guidry spoke to the media about the defense’s performance:

On the defense’s performance against Florida: I thought they were really focused. They knew the types of things they had to defend. Going in, we were really worried about crossing routes, the deep overs. That was [Mertz’s] favorite throw, so we spent a lot of time...

Even some of their basic counting stats…D.Brown had at least 1, if not 2 PBU…They have him listed for ZERO

Guidry is a HC in waiting. I loved that he simplifies complex issues so well. Completely neutralized Napier's system.

I had Smith as my favorite defensive recruit above Taylor and Williams that class, so seeing him climb his way back and start flashing is one of my favorite stories of the year. ... Can't lose any more guys to injury in that secondary. I'm sure guys like Stafford and Williams would step up, but we are still too thin back there.

If/when he leaves I hope he follows the Kirby Smart, Dan Lanning (and what Schumann is going to do) path… be a kick *** DC at a top tier school and write your own ticket at another big program. Why **** around at a G5 when you don’t have to?

How do we lock Guirdy up Long-term.
i can't imagine him going anywhere else unless it's for a head coaching job. Mario took a chance on him after some questionable off field troubles in his past. what other program would be more prestigious or on the rise right now than UM? Unless Blake Baker falls completely flat on his face and LG is drawn back home I think he is around for a while until he takes a HC gig somewhere.

Our defensive players are developing. We have two defensive line coaches. And those players are developing. The gayts have two offensive line coaches and……..they suck and have no talent

That should put some of this PFF nonsense in its place. We simply do not always know what assignment the player has. So if we don’t know the assignment then they cannot be graded properly. I too thought Harris screwed that play up. But it sounds like Wes did not get up field fast enough to seal the edge.

awesome stuff. did he say whether the LB who missed the edge setting blitz was kiko or wes?

It happens to our guys on the OL a lot as well. Like Lance was describing in his post about our OL formations we do a lot of double teams and passing off, next thing you know someone gives up a sack but it wasn’t really on them

I hate on PFF a lot but it’s an impressive platform. I just don’t particularly like grades that come out so quickly after the game. Just on the surface that doesn’t make sense

I don’t know what Restrepos PFF grades are from the game but it should be 100 or whatever the highest number is
