Coley on punts.... Burns on ko if he can hold on to the rock.... Keep Dorsett far away from returning kicks

If you dont want duke back there because of injury then why do you want coley back there? I would like to have both back there for kick returns and coley on punt return. Get your best players the ball.

Tough to disagree with this. However, given our situation at RB I don't think Duke should be out there.

KR: Coley/Burns/Elder/Carter

PR: Coley/Elder/Dorsett

Agreed with this. 100%

They are both proven in the return game. Keep them out there. If anything more situationally, beginning of the game, after half, when we need a big play. Maybe put Coley out there more than Duke cause Coley won't get as much touches being a receiver.

Why fix something that's not broken. These 2 are proven and have shown they can house it or give good field position.

And if we're looking anyone else to emerge there on returns, most likely is Burns and Elder. Both have shown flashes. I expect both to improve our DB corps this year too, if they don't factor in on returns anyways.

I think Waters could be great on returns too, has shown flashes as a big time receiver with elite speed. (Could see him becoming great duo with Coley for next two years)

Lewis could be dangerous on punt returns if healthy. Probably some of the best if not the best moves on the team. (Could see him as our dependable shifty slot receiver for the next 2-3 seasons as long as his health is up to snuff.)

Crawford, Berrios and Yearby can factor in too. And if they don't, think they make an impact wherever.

Carter better suited for punt returns. Don't like his style for kick returns, could see him excelling on punts. If he doesn't get duties, I still expect him to kill it in the defensive backfield.

Dorsett not a good fit for returner doesnt have the knack for returning but his knack for the deep ball in the pass game is deadly with a great QB. (I expect Dorsett to be used smart and situationally, his speed is unreal.)

Duke is already gunna get 20+ touches a game anyway, Coley on the other hand might get 10-12 if he has a good game. I dont think Duke should be returning anything, Coley should be getting those touches. Also the depth we have with returners, no point in overworking somebody when you can put somebody else and its not a dropoff.

KR should be a thing where Coley/Duke/Burns/Dorsett/Carter/Berrios/Elder/Yearby(and Gray if he gets in) all get chances throughout the season, but it's more dictated by situations as to when you send back guys like Coley and Duke. Returning kicks doesn't require as much concentration, skill, and practice as catching and returning punts. There's no reason for them to be returning kickoffs against certain teams or in certain situations. I could also see Malcolm or Tucker getting some chances back there as well.

PR should be one or two guys and you stick to them. Catching punts is different and I think it's much more important to have a regular return guy (or 2 if thats how you line up) back there all season. I could see Elder and Berrios eventually being those guys, though I think Dallas Crawford should be given a shot. Dallas has great hands, is tough to bring down and finds those creases and gets up field, two great qualities in a punt returner. I personally prefer a consistent punt returner who gets you 10-15 yards on every return even if he isn't a threat to take it back 80 yards every time. Dorsett has been back there because he has usually been more sure handed, but he lacks the necessary lateral abilities that it takes to be a great punt returner. I like the idea of giving Coley a return or two a game, so if you need to use him he isn't coming in not having fielded a live punt for a few weeks or a month. It's hard to just jump in there and catch a live punt if you haven't done it consistently throughout the season.

Either way, I'd like some guys to step up on returns to keep guys like Coley and Duke from risking injury on the most violent type of plays in football. Best case scenario if you can manage to only use Duke and Coley on returns in certain situations because other guys step up.

I will say that I expect either Duke or Coley to be back on all kickoffs vs Louisville on Labor Day and I wouldn't be surprised to see Dorsett back returning some punts that day.

if you got weapons............ use them. Bottom line duke and coley both can put points on the board anytime they touch the ball. Having them on special teams can make our team that much deadlier.... last year we never got to see how duke and coley looked playing together and this year we finally will... You got to kick to one of them. Either way its a horrible situation for the kicking team
