have we heard what CMR's strategy on picking up K/P? Does he go for best in nation with schollys or does he try to ride it out with preferred walk-ons? Since '17 should be a huge class, are we looking for both positions to pick up top talent?

yes, i get it.. Kickers!!!! we talk'n kickers!!! but since dmoney and crew already went through full sofla list for every other position, I was just thinking I dont remember the last time we were going after the top flight k/p. golden's style seemed to pick up scraps and pray they end up OK.. i'd prefer to have another bosher and a K like FSU's guy.

Assuming he follows Georgia blueprint, he'll recruit and sign top guys. Proved aggressive. Didn't sit back and wait for a walk-on to fall in his lap.

If they weren't important then they wouldn't be on the team. I know it's popular to mock kickers, but I've seem them win more games with "seconds left" than any other position. No matter the position you should always offer the best out there, including kickers and punters.

I have it on marginal authority that Coach Mark will be bringing the drop kick back in a big way.

We did sign the number 1 fg kicker a number of years ago iirc. Regardless I think we will try and get the best kids we can. These spots however can take a walk on and some coaching and do well!

or you can get a proven kicker and win tight games

We've been solid at kicker for many years.

From getting recruited guys to using walk ons.

Another Bosher would be great though

There's rarely such thing as a proven kicker. So many variables go into the transition from hs to college kicking. Most kicking prospects now kick off the ground in HS to prove themselves. But with that, the difference in timing due to increased pressure and bigger bodies blocking their kicking path makes it pretty hard to have sure fire kickers

As was mentioned, any kicking game talk is easy fodder for mockery (and it should be when SMD asks 14 different punter questions at a press conference) but it's a valid concern and topic. There were a few instances last year alone where lack of acceptable consistency in that facet was a major issue with us. Look at the ****show Mceltoof had on his hands with his kicking game last year too.
