Keyone “Lyghtz Out” Jenkins, QB ‘23

He’s got a ton of uncoachable traits. Plus he looks a bit skinny but he’s not a little guy. There’s a good chance he’s 6’2” or more by the time he’s in college. He certainly exciting to watch.

kid dissed me as an incoming freshman at Carol City during a 7 on 7 scrimmage as i didnt know who he was and was asking where was CC's qb. lol

Lot of Moxy and arm talent then...If he can get to the 6'0 + range and add weight he will be a power 5 recruit.

He needs to add weight to that frame..get up above 180-190.

Him and Tyger ****ens are almost identical as prospects. Both undersized, average athletes with great field/game awareness and like to compete. Their weakness is their lack of fundamentals and their ability to throw on time. Watch last years Central vs Northwestern game, if either kid can make a rhythm throw it’s a totally different game.

You’ll have people say they’re young, they have time to learn, etc. but in SFL, the qb coaching is HORRIBLE! Depending on where you go to college, a lot of QBs coaches have zero experience playing qb or teaching real fundamentals……so how is a kid going to get better? **** I know a P5 qb coach that told one of their QBs to go train with Quincy Avery in the off-season to fix his fundamentals! Shouldn’t your college coach be able to do that?

I like them both, but they need to go to the right situation after HS to be successful. Most P5 schools aren’t looking to take a project type qb unless they are freak athletes.

The crazy part is Tyger and him are the era of kids that have had qb coaches throughout.

Tyger has been a qb his whole life. He played at the park i coached at the optomist level (Miramar).

For example Tyger has Coastal Carolina, Toledo...i feel like he fits those types or like an offense like Liberty.

Tyger has a stockier fram than Jenkins. I expect Tyger to get to the 180-190 range fairly quick.
Jenkins actually reminds me of Rakeem Cato frame wise

4 TDs in spring game against Palmetto:

He made 2 or 3 questionable throws but the thing that sticks out to me from this vid is how he keeps his eyes down the field when he scrambles. He not an uber athlete that makes one read and takes off, he looks like he really scans the field.

I saw him at the Florida Fire tryouts last year and he looked tiny, it seems like he's grown abit. I'd say that's the only thing that concerns me about him.

He really scans the field well and is a pure QB.

I’m not sure who their qb coaches were at the youth level were…..but as I said South Florida qb coaching is bad. Private coaches, HS, etc……. Not many guys can get on the board discuss passing concepts vs coverages, etc.

I like the Cato comparison for Lyghtzout. The other thing not mentioned, he’s a great kid. I’m looking forward to seeing him at the cookout!

He was 5’11, 174 official at the Elite 11 camp a couple months ago. Would love for him to get closer to 6’1.

Yea he sort of has that small wiry frame like Rakeem Cato.

Yea i feel the same way as you.

Ken Mastrole was a guyt hat did a good job with qbs....and Miami Central had someone in the early 2000s when i was in high school that seemed to crank out div 1 qbs...but its far and in between...even in the privates. (STA aint lighting the world up on offense).

Yea he is a good kid like i said my first time seeing him i sort of glanced over him and he let me know right away...but not really disrespectfully. He threw a bomb off the bat and let me know who he was lol.

I forgot what 7 on 7 you went with?.

I absolutely adore this kid as a prospect. I don't know anything about the off-the-field stuff that is honestly important for QB's, but he can absolutely play.
Nothing to worry about with Keyone off the field. Good kid all around. I know him personally. I coached a couple of age groups ahead of him at Opa Locka Optimist for a few years, never been a behavioral problem. Dad is very active in his life, coached for his Opa Locka squads for I don't know long. Matter of fact, my good friend's(who's Malcolm Lewis' 1st cousin) wife is Keyone's dad's 1st cousin. And to what D$ said, 6'1" isn't out of the question. His pops is about 6' on a good day, so him being 5'11" before he takes a snap as a junior is a good sign. My dawg told me he was growing but I didn't know he got that tall. Plus I feel really safe saying that he'd be very receptive to the possibility of being a Cane. Look, I've been pounding the table for jit since he was first mentioned here. Size be damned, you take this kid for two reasons. He's a ball player that'll contribute in college, QB or elsewhere. And he's a winner. Wherever he goes, winning follows....

How tall is dad? Kid looks like he's going to be a hot prospect.

About 5'11", maaaybe 6'. But Keyone wasn't the kid on the park with a beard who looked 15 when he was 10. So he may just be starting to mature physically. He's not gonna be 6'5", but he doesn't need to be. He's taller than our current QB1 right now, you know, the guy who's arguably been our best in the last 20 years. Kid's a winner, a leader, and has the work ethic to become the best passer he can be...
