Kevin Patrick wants to Coach Again, AG just needs to Call him an Jethro's days at UM are numbered if AG is going to keep D'Onofrio which I can't imagine how. There was an article from this September were:

Patrick said he isn’t one to predict the future – “especially when it comes to business and family” – but he plans to return to the sidelines eventually. He keeps in contact with his friends in the business and knows something will open up. It always does.

“Oh, I’m going to coach. I’m going to coach one way or the other,” he said. “I’m always talking to those guys. They’re my friends – some of them anyway.”

So, did he just take a year off to be with family or did he have challenges finding a gig somewhere?

He is not leaving the state of Florida to coach, he is waiting for an instate opportunity. An he can afford to he owns a $10 million dollar health care business. check out the article.

Kevin Patrick never looked right on the USF sideline.... I'd take Greg Mark over KP- good DL coach and good recuiter.

he is white....if Al lets go a black guy and hires a white guy.....the local racial mafia aka, Ice, Luther ( you remember him he was popular for 15 min in the 90s).....and no recruits will ever sign at Miami....

Come on with this ****? what does that make you?

I think this is a direction we need to look into. As I stated a month or so ago, he is man that would be an instant upgrade as a coach and recruiter. He does well privately and can pick and choose his destinations if he wants to coach.

As for Mark over Patrick, true he is a very good coach, but I doubt he will ever coach again. He went through a very tough personal time when he was let go here, and while dealing with what he had gone through, alienated some people professionally. On a positive note he is happy now and I hope he continues to maintain it.

This sure looks like a typical Al Golden move. Fire a competent position coach to cover for your boy and replace him with a local hero.

Style over substance.

I think this is sarcasm, but if it's not, it's pretty dumb. Patrick is very well liked and respected in the coaching community.

patrick was one of my favs. i remember when krein was being built up and patrick just exploded along side of him. he consistently turned out talented defensive linemen at USF.

Incorrect. I was on record as saying the ultimate off season would be hire Leavitt as DC/LB coach and Patrick as DL coach. Is that realistic, who knows. Patrick however, is a huge upgrade over Franklin on the field and in living rooms.

someone gets it.....

what has barrow done?? The Lb core has been the worse since he has been here...

Cmac, Spence....after that who? Perryman has not improved still an okay talent with 3 or 4th round guy..

we used to have LB lining up to play here.....

I don't know SF.... Patrick developed some really good DLineman over at USF. Willie should have kept him on staff @ USF. Even though they sucked the last couple years they consistently got pressure in the backfield, something we sorely need

our lb core sucks because we had guys kicked off team. EJ was an nfl talent and would have been all conference. gionni and terry were at least tough.
figs, grace and kirby with experience will be much better next year.

NFL talent is used so poorly in this board....Chase Ford is in the NFL...

Nothing matter is we continue to play bend don't break D. That only works with ball control grind it out offense. I am not opposed to either, but neither is in THE U's DNA. Agressive attack D and O is what we always were. Talent and coaching died off with Coaker and Randy. Right now we have few great players to afford large number of meremly good players. Really didn't matter what D we played with the sad DTs we have had. This class has promise of a couple top DTs and great DEs. They will be wasted in Al's defense but can make huge difference in the old "meet me at the QB and play run on the way" defense that made us feared. If the DT or DE creams the RB behind the line of scrimmage, it really doesn't matter how amny lbs the friggin guard or tackle blocks, and no qb completes a pass with Valentine sitting on his chest or Chad body slamming a tackle on him. Bring Patrick in, fine but more needs to happen.
