[h=5]Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic four-star defensive tackle Keith Bryant, a Miami commitment, made his way to Tallahassee for an unofficial visit to Florida State this weekend. The 6-foot-2, 300-plus pound defensive tackle was impressed.
Bryant has previously mentioned plans to return to FSU for an official visit. On Sunday, he wasn't specific about following through on those plans.
“It was great,” Bryant said.
The visit marked the first time that Bryant has watched the Seminoles in-person at Doak S. Campbell Stadium.
“It was my first game,” Bryant said. “I had been on the campus before but never to a game. It was a great experience. The fans were really into it. It was live. It was great being at a game and seeing everyone with their FSU gear on and being in the stands with everybody doing the Seminole chop.
“I loved it,” Bryant added.
The fact that Florida State fell short to the Florida Gators didn’t hurt them with Bryant. He was simply disappointed he didn’t get to see a victory for the Seminoles.
“I was upset,” Bryant said. “I really wanted FSU to win, but you can’t win them all. FSU is such a great team.”
During the game, Bryant paid close attention to the performance of the defensive tackles on the current roster.
“I was paying attention to them,” Bryant said. “They played really well.”
Bryant would like to play college football with his teammate Tevin Spells. Spells reports offers from Bethune-Cookman, Georgia State, Purdue, and Tennessee State.
Bryant also had an opportunity to catch up with Odell Haggins, who coaches the defensive tackles for Florida State, during the visit.
“I talked to Coach Haggins,” Bryant said. “He just told me that he is ready for me to come in and play. He knows he can use me and he was very happy I was there last night at the game.”
Haggins wasn’t the only coach to speak with Bryant.
“I talked to (defensive coordinator) Coach (Mark) Stoops and (head) Coach (Jimbo) Fisher,” Bryant said. “They just told me that is where I need to be. They would really love to have me there. Coach Haggins said he would really love to coach me. I think it is meant for me to be at FSU.”
Bryant talked a bit more about what he spoke with Jimbo Fisher about.
“Sitting in Coach Fisher’s office, him talking to me, it was a good conversation,” Bryant said. “I told him (Fisher) that I really want to play with (running back) Tevin (Spells), that is my dream thing to do. I really would like to further my education and career with him. That is my plan. We have grown together, we work out together, and that is who I want to continue to play with. I told Coach Fisher that, I told him that face-to-face, and they are going to take three running backs and I am hoping he is one of them. I know me and him would come up there and turn it all the way up.”
The defensive tackle was accompanied on the visit by his older brother and teammate, running back Tevin Spells.
Despite what he called a great visit to Tallahassee this weekend, Bryant says he remains committed to the Miami Hurricanes. He pledged his services to Al Golden and company more than 10 months ago.
“Yes, kind of,” Bryant said when asked if he was still committed.
At this time, Bryant is unsure of when or where he will take any official visits. He shared what is next for him in the recruiting process.
“I am just going to think about things,” Bryant said. “Really, whoever offers my running back Tevin Spells, they would have a great chance at landing us both.”
In addition to Miami and Florida State, other schools in the picture with Bryant include Ohio State and South Carolina.
Bryant will next hit the football field to participate in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Game in early January.[/h]
