KD Nixon

He's a bad *** and South Dallas kids love Miami. His school, Desoto High School, literally calls itself "The U" and that's what their fans' tshirts all say.

That school is loaded every year just like the Dade schools. Would love for that school to be a Miami pipeline too

Because of his size I would say UM passes on him because you can find the same or better in south Florida

KD Nixon Decommits from Tennessee: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

The Tennessee Volunteers lost one of their better recruits from the class of 2017 on Sunday, as 4-star wide receiver KD Nixon announced he was no longer committed to the program.

Ryan Bartow of 247Sports reported the news of Nixon's decommitment. Nixon was clear that he wanted to reopen his recruiting process without any further inquiries when he posted about the decision on Twitter—a tweet that has since been deleted.

A product of DeSoto High School in Texas, Nixon is the No. 38 wide receiver, the 43rd-rated player out of the Lone Star State and the 290th-best prospect in the nation, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

One of the reasons Nixon doesn't rank as highly as other 2017 wideouts is his diminutive size, which 247Sports lists at 5'8", 182 pounds.

Nixon's production was also limited during his junior year, when he had 26 receptions for 411 yards and five touchdowns. He was dealing with a leg injury in September 2015, though.

Despite those shortcomings, there's room for Nixon to improve as a senior and boost his stock. The fact that he's acclaimed to the degree he is as a 4-star recruit speaks to his innate potential.

In addition to having the speed to blow the top off defenses, Nixon has marvelous quick-twitch athleticism, which he uses to his advantage as an advanced route-runner. His open-field vision is also evident in the first highlight on his Hudl reel.

According to 247Sports, Nixon had 18 scholarship offers, so he should have plenty of suitors to choose from. Ohio State and Tennessee were the only two schools that garnered "crystal ball" predictions on 247Sports, which may mean Nixon will flip to the Buckeyes.

But given the plethora of offers at his disposal and months to go before national signing day on Feb. 1, Nixon should take his time to weigh all his options before making a final call.

As for the Volunteers, they're now down to 17 hard commits in their 2017 class, with only two 4-star recruits, safety Maleik Gray and defensive tackle Eric Crosby.

He doesn't look explosive fast; saw him get tracked a couple of times. Sometimes I really be wondering how do some of these kids get a 4th star, but then you see another guy who's considered a 3 star guy but his measurable and tape is far better.

Looks like a faster Sam Bruce.

Chise I disagree. Bruce's tape is much more explosive. Bruce's quickness and his short area speed is ridiculous. I wasn't that impressed w/ Nixon's film. On that return, his speed was very meh. Everyone else was just that much slower. He got tracked a couple of times. I think his long speed is better, but at the next level, quickness and short area speed is so much more important especially at his size. He's gotta to be able to miss the jam at the line of scrimmage or have that shiftiness to run a crisp route. I didn't see it from this kid.

Worth noting, the competition in those clips is IMG, Allen, Cedar Hill, Mansfield, Duncanville, and South Grand Prairie. Those are 6 of the faster schools you will find anywhere.

As a sophomore he was the first leg of the fastest timed 4x100 relay in the United States (Desoto ran a 40.55).

To get a better idea of his explosiveness, watch his sophomore film - he missed a lot of his junior year with a leg injury.

Here are his sophomore clips:

Watching his Sophomore film, I have to admit he looked a lot better. His burst was much better. I don't see quickness, per say...and his tape didn't blow me away, but the highlights you provided were head and shoulders above better than what Paranos posted.
