Central LB/ATH Karon Maycock was offered in May of 23 and visited for Ball State. He's scheduled an OV so he should have his own thread.

Keeping the Central pipeline open, the local flavour and fill the backend of the roster and have great special teamers.
Chase Smith, great example, local, legacy and guy crushed spécial teams.

Perryman
Marcelin - TBD

These are all of the Dade County LBs we have signed going all the way back to 2010. Notice a theme? You can probably throw the Broward signees in there too honestly, and it’d be consistent. Guys like Huff, and I’m sure I’m forgetting a few more but why is our hit rate so ridiculously low with these guys? Can anyone answer that? I mean I know the answer, but what do you all think?

3 of them had bad injuries. Otherwise I have nothing

All tweeners … not big/physical enough to be full time effective LBs and not fast/rangy enough to be Safeties. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Except Perryman… there’s always an outlier.

Really thought Wes would buck the trend, he seemed like a force on his highlights

I’d add

Keontra Smith
Sean Spence
Jermaine Grace

To the list… and while Spence balled too the hit rate for these 185-200lb types is super low and instead of their being exceptions to the rule we’ve made that type a standard. II think HS programs and trying to create package deals has played a part in that too but we have to be better there for all the obvious reasons.

I think most were either undersized (huff, steed, wes, king) injured (wilder, brooks), or just overall not mentally prepared to play and when they were they'd be asked to go against their strengths.

Did brooks ever play again after he left here? Was never the same after the knee, thought he was a real one.

We dropped a guy like Vincent Shavers & didn't recruit Willis McGahee's kid, both of whom immediately popped as true freshmen. Got outbagged by Louisville for Stanquan Clark. Going back in time, we didn't recruit Ruben Hyppolite, Yasir Abdullah, Mikel Jones, Tatum Bethune, Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste, Abraham Beauplan, I can keep going on.

Golden, Diaz, and at this point I gotta add Mario too, all have questionable evaluation skills at LB

At least Golden got Shaq and Pinckney, they committed to him initially.

South Florida hasn't produced a good LB in a while aside from Devin Bush.

The strength has been at pass rusher.
